Seems everyone thinks they are entitled to live where they want to. If they cant afford it it's the govenment/city's responsibility?

When did people get so delutional? You think people wanna live in the slums? At this rate let's just ask California to build mansions for us in Atherton and Palo Alto! These progrssive thinking is so idiotic.

Kinda curious what they expected. Eventually it would’ve come to this. You can’t just setup like this, it ain’t the 1700’s. We have developed lots of protocols and building guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety. The fires are a clear example of why we have so many rules when it comes to housing code.

So when is it the government's responsibility to pay for housing.??

This is so sad.
They only had 12 fires last month.

These people don’t want to pay for anything and use hard working people utilities for their own gains. They are able to work but don’t want to and we should not award them for bad behaviors.

If Cal Trans could evict all the people that are camping on their property, that would clean up, what, 70% of the problem -- all people living under and around freeway structures.

Funny how things go when they are no longer politically useful

What? They will be forced to comply with the thousands of zoning /planning laws and health/ safety codes that don’t allow camping ?

How do you stop them from moving right back like they always do.

Homelessness and tents should be illegal. In Europe there's no encampments because it's illegal to live in a tent.

Naw cali government doing something fishy. Have 40% of my paycheck I’m a state that has a surplus economy….I bet folks going to be like we need to tax more people to find solution
And my answer to that is know…folks who pay high taxes should have a direct say so on how the government is using it

Alameda county has been victimizing these people for decades housing drugs for the distributors to feed these people their habits. This is the outcome of selfish and morally lost city officials

All a damn act. I don’t feel sorry for any of those people anymore. There are ways out of that situation and it’s clear the majority of people in that situation don’t want out they want to continue to play the victim and look for ignorant sympathetic ears. I understand that certain humans are more resilient than others and some need extra assistance to succeed in life but this is not what going here. These are sorry people who need to grow up. If they are unwilling to participate in society than they should be banned from all cities. Living on the streets should be illegal or something done in rural areas only. The second these people are forced to live out in nature away from vices they will clean up their act real quick.

Oakland makes these "Shire" communities with "sustainable" "low impact" lifestyle options .... the retired "New Agers" would be the second group, after these homeless, bringing Social Security money into the city without significantly altering the established real estate dynamic.
