If you listen to people talk about race you'll eventually hear someone say "I don't see race" or even "Race doesn't actually exist biologically, so we should just ignore it" as way to stop racism. And while this "Color Blind" or "Race Blind" ideology might seem like a good attitude to adopt, it's not going do anything to stop racism and may do more harm than good. Why? Watch the episode to find out.

So let me get this straight. If I choose not to factor in someone's race and try to treat everyone equally regardless of skin color, I'm apart of the problem?

Huh?

This video is entirely void of accurate scientific information.

No. Colorblindness isn’t the issue. In fact, I reckon it’s a solution. To be colorblind doesn’t mean ignore racism. To be colorblind means to look beyond race and judge by the person’s actions and their heart. I would rather for someone to judge me by my character than be obsessed over my race

This is the most racist channel on YouTube

If race isn't biological why do different races have different facial features?

It's not called being colour blind, it's called disregarding skin colour and judging for people's actions.

This video is quite contradicting. All of those problems you named are precisely because institutions and most people are not "colorblind". Yes, race is a social construct, wich makes it a real thing in our society; but the thing with social constructs is that they can be changed or completely abandoned if society chooses to. A Colorblind society, where your ethnic backgroud doesn´t afect the quality of your life would be the best thing.

Did she just say "I have a bomb to drop" How dare you insult all those in the middle east and all around the world the ancestors who have had bombs dropped on them, this is disgusting and hateful to these innocent people and victims of such a terrible attack on them, have you not heard of the Blitz, Hiroshima, or drone strikes in the Middle East, discussing TRIGGERED

"Companies, government and schools should take the bias out of hiring to solve the problem." In other words, you're saying institutions (and people in general) need to learn to stop judging others solely on race and instead treat every person equally. THAT'S COLOR BLINDNESS! Your solution to stop people from being mistreated for their skin color (racism) is color blindness.

I have the feeling, a part of this comment section shows really good, that there is actually a big problem with racism in this world..

Colorblindness means to not see color. It doesn't mean to ignore racism.

"I don't see color"= *I judge people by their character and not by their skin tone.*

but if the preschool teachers, resume readers, and landlords were all colorblind, wouldn't all of the things you listed as issues not be issues? this entire video seems like a self-defeating argument.

As a woman of color that doesn't speak on behalf of the black community, I don't see race, my grandma who adopted be doesn't see race, my dad who adopted me doesn't see race, my mom who is black doesn't see race, and my husband doesn't see race. And we live happily, we accept eachother for what we are the end. If we keep bring it up, the more we make a problem that could have already been solved if we didn't bring it up in the first place, not saying racism doesn't exist, cause I have a mother in law to say it otherwise, and a bunch of BLM protesters who are convinced that my dad kidnapped me too, if we all admit hey the world sucks right now but it's not as bad as what it could be. Be happy for how far we came, it will get better with time.

Colour blindness is ignoring race, not ignoring racism. This is an important thing to learn.

You say "colorblindness" is not a solution and then prupose a "colorblind" hiring process to "solve the problem". Can you explain your thought process here?

All of this sounds good... kind of, except that the medical community uses race for various purposes. Why? Because there are differences in race. The local coroner can be given a human skeleton and determine with a very high degree of certainty what race the person was. Is there enough differences to scientifically qualify for human races to be considered "subspecies"? No, but that does not mean there aren't differences. Also, contrary to what the video seems to say, universal colorblindness would eradicate racism. If today we all gave up the practice of looking at each other racially, tomorrow racism would be gone.

I don't say " I don't see color", nope I see it, but in my opinion all of them are so beautiful that it is hard to love and appreciate only one.

For every statistic mentioned, she assumed the only factor was race and cited no other possible factors. Sounds legit.
