She is native in french and italian, completely fluent in english speaking and Spanish. She writes songs in these 4 languages.

Then she speaks a bit of dutch, russian and portuguese. She has sung in a total of 12 languages.

Caruso, is an italian song, written, composed and performed in 1986 by Lucio Dalla as a tribute to Enrico Caruso, the most famous tenor of his time (late 19th / early 20th century). He was the first global singing superstar.
The story is about the last days of Enrico Caruso, he knows he is dying, and he is remembering all his career on stage and telling his much younger wife how much he loves her.

It has very quickly become a classic of italia music and the biggest names have covered it (Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, …. and of course Luciano Pavarotti). Even Metallica covered it 😂

But for many, Lara's version from the concert From Lara With Love 2000

I was told that Lucio Dalla himself, after hearing this performance, said that she made it her song and this is the best version he has heard from it.

For Lara, this song is really important as this is a kind of anthem for Italy, and she is so much connected to this country. She spent the first few years of her life there with her sicilian mother and grandma. Her husband is also sicilian. She also as been living there for the past few months since the end of 2022.

If you want to move away from her legendary From Lara With Love concert, you can go for her En toute Intimité, Paris, 2003 concert.
This is the preferred from her fan base, just a piano and a few chords, letting her voice shine like in this Caruso rendition.


Just a final side note: Lara will be performing, again, on May 9th at Royal Albert Hall in London, this time as one of the special guests of Hauser, the famous classic musician (2 Cellos). There is a chance she will be singing Adagio and/or Caruso, as these are songs that Hauser loves to perform on his cello.

Thank you for that great review. Don't know if youknow it or not but Lara is doing a world tour this year. I already have my tickets for her performance in Ottawa Canada in June. I know you said you are intending to review some more recent Lara and that is great but there is one even older performance youmust see. It is Lara's performance of Barbra's Yentl Medly live at the Molson Center in Montreal in the late 90's (97 I think). The power co😅ntrol and stamina this took is amazing. It is wi😂thout a doubt the best cover of any Barbra song Ihave ever heard. I guarantee you will be amazed at this stunning performance. The ovation she received from the packed house wase tremendous.
