Review and impressions of the Lionsteel SR-1a. Just like the original, but with D2 blade steel and an aluminum handle vs. titanium.

A little discussion about titanium vs aluminum as well.

Thanks for the kind words and for watching! Glad it can help you in a decision about this knife. It's a great one. Although I have gone back to the titanium :) With damascus.

That makes sense. I didn't know it was actually dyed for the color. As always, thanks for all the great info!

Thank you, man! This was actually the most helpful video I have seen about this knife so far!

Thanks for the comparison. I have an SR1-A in red on the way, for Father's Day. Looking forward to it. Red is my favorite color, and it's hard to find red knives that look good. For some reason, red G-10 just looks weird.

Both look really nice. I haven't handled the AL version yet but I wanted to get one to try out. Thanks for the comparison.

Sweet! Cant wait to see it. I'd love to get one but I have no income at the moment. Hopefully in the next few months my first customs will be ready and sold and I'll have some cash!

I love how the SR-1 knives actually can be "locked" open by the lock bar stabilizer. It is a really cool feature that should be patented if it isn't by Lionsteel.

Stain resistance isn't all composition, the heat treat plays a big role in it as well. Maybe that has something to do with the drop in Cr, but the spike in stain resistance. :)

I need the green one with the black blade. I love the damascus versions available as well

Very helpful. I'm leaning toward titanium with damascus blade. I have a bench made mini-Barrage with assisted opening.

Thanks. But just made three purchases- Brous SS Folder, Extrema Ratio MFO, and Mcusta MC-145 Bamboo, so I'm a little poor. But good luck- it's a gorgeous knife.

At it's widest point it's about 1.625" It actually sits and feels much smaller than you'd think. After handling so many big knives, I actually think this one is small :)

I almost got a damascus, but decided against it. Green and black sounds pretty sick.

It's definitely not too big. As an EDC it will excel. As a hard user, it might not be the best option due to the grip/traction. It can be a little slippery.

I see. That makes a whole lot of sense! Can they not do that with Titanium? Or will the color corrosion mess up the dye?

Al is a great material. Strength-wise it might not be titanium, but how strong do you need an edc to be? If I had a choice, I'd always pick titanium, but for someone on a budget, you're not missing that much going with Aluminum.
