Here's sort of an addendum to my comprehensive review of the Lionsteel SR-1A. I neglected to talk about the factory edge in that first video, and there are some things to talk about in that regard...

Here's the link to my comprehensive review of the Lionsteel SR-1A:

Great question... Just my two cents, but I don't prefer diamond sharpening media to silicon carbide, aluminum oxide or natural stones in most applications. Diamonds tend to essentially rip carbides out of the structure of the steel instead of sharpening them. That said, I think diamond is fine for roughing out or reprofiling edges that are a long way from where they need to be, and some steels are just so hard that they're difficult to sharpen with any other media. But I love the Edgepro :)

Can't wait to see your review of this little sister to the SR-1. My only concern is the handle length -- looks like the pinky might have a little trouble finding a home on the shorter gripping surface. But if it fits a medium to large hand... make mine red!

You're certainly welcome! It was pretty hard to put it in the mail today :(

I like the Lionsteel but love the SR-1A. Your edge finish is clearly better than the factory edge. I'll remember your service when sharing with my friend how much sharper your's are compared to the company. great video!!

I actually just got my sr11 in red and I couldn’t believe that it was whittling hair out of the box. However I’m a knife guy who loves to put my own edge on knives and it will be upgraded. But I was totally surprised, Lionsteel learns and listens.

Great sharpening job! Tony should love that! I'm with you, , , I've never met a factory edge that was sharp enough to my standards! I think until we can afford a Rockstead, , , that will continue to be the case lol

Thanks, Knifeguy! I think he's pretty pleased. Actually, I really don't mind sharpening my new knives. I kind of like my own edges anyway :)

I stropped my SR-2A out of the box. Sort of in between the red and your black. The more stropping the better its getting, obviously.

LOL :). No, Scot, this job is a bit above the capabilities of the Sharpmaker. I used an Edgepro Apex. I pretty much only use the Sharpmaker for touch-ups these days.

My SR2-A came with a pretty good convex edge. It was tight, yes... but it does actually slice receipt paper fairly well. I dunno if I got lucky with a good one or maybe Lionsteel has stepped up their sharpening game.

Thanks for checking in, my friend. I know we've crossed paths, but I found myself not subbed to you either... hmmm... Just took care of that :)

It looked like a spyderco sharpmaker in the back ground while you were doing the cutting test. Is that what you used ?

Funny. Well I have medium to medium small hands. My pinky fits perfectly flush with maybe a small amount protruding past it. I think it would fit you like a glove. The red would be stunning. Id pull the trigger. At least you could return or sell it quickly if so. I think it would go right in your pocket. ;)

You realize that if I send it down for a review, it'll cost you... You'll order one the day you send it back :)
