Bro is a mad scientist with all these ecosystems

I love the fact that most people heavily struggle to breed this species but he accidentally does it.
Maybe giving the pair frogs the bully has been the key all along

Scarlett Badis have not been well documented in captivity for breeding. You have achieved a absolute rarity.

Something similar happened to me when I was a teenager. I moved a floating plant out of my pond into a bucket of water. Months later I noticed three goldfish in the bucket. They came from eggs stuck in the roots.

I once found a tiny fish in a tank with only a couple inches of stinky water, a tank that had been in my garage for over 3 months with no light, filtration or food, 3 months of WINTER by the way. -Turned out to be a baby betta. I HAD kept bettas in that tank, divided by screens, and I never had any breach a screen and get into their neighbor's compartment or so I thought. Back in those days I was breeding and selling bettas, but that one lucky little bugger that somehow came from a mom and dad that couldn't touch each other, and survived her first few months of life in the absolute opposite of a good fry-rearing setup she earned a forever home with me, obviously.

They were probably protecting their eggs from being eaten by LeBron and Helen 😂

Too funny. But that's how fish spread across country and land lock areas... hitch rides on plants and animals

‘making some sweet fish love’ is a sentence I never thought I’d hear..

I didn’t know what it looks like when a mommy fish and a daddy fish love each other very much, and I can’t decide how I feel about living with that knowledge going forward

😂 it kinda looks like the inverse, that he has a tiny little chunk ADDED to his little forehead! So cute.

when my cichlids lay a batch of eggs, there's always a runt that looks a bit off, grows slower, and rarely makes it to adulthood unfortunately, likely weird dent guy is just the run of the litter, give him a good life, he also does have a chance of becoming a healthy adult so don't give up on him!

Oh i love badis! And impressive accidental fry rearing truly. Forgotten bits of plants in stagnant water is absolutely the best way to hatch out eggs though lol

If youre going to continue this and add some more intentionality to it, it may be a good idea to start some live food cultures, like vinegar eels, daphnia, grindal worms or whiteworms (probably good topics for content to cover as well)

Making me miss my former fishkeeping life lol, used to manage an lfs and left a couple years ago
I do miss all of the interesting people working with interesting fish, I would be so meticulous picking out pairs for breeders and hobby breeders, and the best was when my customers would bring me back a batch to sell.

I personally have done some interesting localities of rainbows, rice fish, bettas, african deepwater haplochromis, cyprichromis (countless other african cichlids tbh....the mouthbrooders you just need to strip when you see eyes, but dont strip out eggs, egg tumblers are never as successful), some of the south american dwarf cichlids (apistogrammas, rams), corys, plecos, and (not fish) axolotls...im definitely forgetting some lol
Point is, i dont work in the aquarium industry anymore and am slightly regretting not keeping my collection going

My scarlet badis have been breeding a ton too. About 4 months into owning them and I have been able to find five babies of various sizes

I love Scarlet Badis! One of my favorite fish. That’s pretty incredible you were able to get them to breed! The biggest thing is they only eat fresh or frozen food, I feed mine frozen Daphnia and baby brine shrimp.

This is why you're not supposed to move aquatic plants from one water body to another. Aquatic hitchhikers.

This is the reason why I follow quarantine procedures before moving anything from tank to tank.
