Fujifilm X-T3 Autofocus Test - Single Point and Face Detect

preview_player

In this quick video as I prepare my full review, we'll take a short look at how the X-T3 autofocus system performs with some older lenses compared to the X-T2. We'll also take a look quickly at the face detection and eye AF.

These are unscientific real-world tests for my use case. I hope you find them helpful.

Thanks for the test. A low light AF test with these three lenses and also an AF noise test with the XT3 and the 35mm 1.4 would be awesome!

Hi Dylan, nice job! I really like your honest opinions and very funny tracking clips. Keep it up!

The face detection test was made with one of the slowest XF lenses, the 56mm f1.2 .It would be awesome to see similar tests with the fast LM lenses.

Did you use eye af tracking in your eratic movement test, zone or single point C af?

Hi Dylan, will you able to do some low light testing as well?

Thanks man, the most important question is...are you happy with the upgrade?

Thumb up for the Eluveitie shirt. Can we attribute face detection on a custom button, like AF-ON ?

Best review i've seen. The other videos looked more like a FUJI ad. Lotsa talk and they just do a bunch of AF-C tests. makes someone really ditch their xt2 for the xt3 if AF is crucial to their work. Can you do the s low light test and see if the -3EV AF sensitivity is true? alongside the XT2 .

Is your Touch screen disabled? It seems thats the case with mine. I can't figure out how to get it to turn on.

Thanks Dylan, I love your sincerity, awesome review, I wonder how the 60mm 2.4 will fare with the XT3, to me is an underrated gem of a lens especially for portraits and close ups, but so slow...

Hi, are you filming this video in South Korea? It's very interesting for me cause I'm in Busan. I use a7m3 at Sony now but I want to change my a7m3 to X-t3. Low light AF Issues in X-T3(FUJI) can be better to upgrade soft firmware in FUJI?

Very nice comparison and test. Thank you for sharing

Nice work! It looks like Fuji fixed lens blades "back to default" issue on X-T3.

Hi in your review you mention ... I can more confidently make use of the silent shutter for things like street photography. It still results in slight warping with fast moving subjects like children, so I cannot use it on family sessions just yet. what do you mean by slight warping, and is it currectable. ?

Hi Dylan, thanks for putting up this initial test. Just a comment as a recently retired professional scientist. It *is* possible to do "real-world" scientific testing. The two are not mutually exclusive! ;-) With respect to your moving subjects test, for example, the appropriate statistical test would have been a 2-proportion test. Cheers and regards, Stephen.

Please tell me you can disable the beep.

isn't the screen a touch screen as well if you want to focus on an object?

There is some improvement but overall I think both focused about the same speed maybe there is like 10-15% AF speed improvement with X-T3 but almost nothing. Maybe a low-light AF test would make more sense and we will see the AF improvement better.
