Thank you Carol for all these block patterns. Trouble is I want to make them all and my husband wants to eat sometime. I so agree with you regarding cutting the HST around the two edges. I am going to interject my my process of fabric preparation. I always prewash my fabric because I want to see if it bleeds, etc. I always starch. I never use the iron on the steam setting as it dissipates the starch and you take the risk of scorching the fabric. When I use spray starch I spray the starch on the wrong side of the fabric.

Love this block and looking forward to the next block. I want to make this quilt. I just purchased a drying rack from Amazon so that I can starch my fabrics and let them dry before pressing my fabrics. Thank you for the tutorials and adding the accuquilt dies to the patterns.

THANK YOU THANK YOU for this tutorial. I just finished the Making Waves quilt, I LOVE my Tri Recs ruler, I wish I could afford a Accuquilt machine but not in the financial future for me. I am still working on perfecting the square in a square, I did what you said about making it a little larger, and that did help. I just have trouble cutting things to the 7/8 rule, . I am looking forward to tomorrows video, looks like my next quilt will be decided !!!! You explain things so well.

I use the same starch solution, except just less starch and more water. Works great.

I made something similar at least 40 years ago that I currently have on my bed. I wanted to make another one and didn't remember where I got the pattern. This is it AND I love that there's a template set. Thanks for the detailed instructions. I can't wait to see the next video!

I agree with Patricia Scott. I soak my fabrics in the 50-50 Sta-Flo/water solution and let them dry overnight. No flaking when I press after the fabric’s dry. I’m really looking forward to making this quilt!

Thank you for your two block patterns. They make a much more interesting quilt. I use Dollar Tree starch.

Thank you Carol for your demonstration, I also do not like it when 2 10” blocks are sewn together and cut from corner to corner. To much stretch going on, I love your patterns

Love Sta-Flo. The triangle in square (or 2x diamond rectangle) is one of my favorite blocks. It can be paired with so many things to create beautiful movement. Also, for those who wish for simpler color schemes (light, medium dark), designs such as this optimize the fabric you choose to create wondrous geometry and fluid movement. You know my ruler fetishes! I have both Tri-Recs and Deb Tucker's V Block. I actually use them together. I prefer to cut the triangle with the Tri-Rec, and I prefer to cut the sides with DT's VBlock. DT's V block provides for a slight oversizing and a perfect trim down. I find that for any high-bias blocks using slight oversize methods (as DT does) with a "slivers" trim down gives me perfect results. I also glue baste in addition to STS (starch the stuffing) preparation. I don't open my seams as you and many do. However, to get a very flat block, I use a teflon coated fiberglass pressing mats help me achieve very flat seams.
