E36 and e46 subframe tearing. My e36 met it’s demise from it. It’s a real shame.

Only 35 factory kgs difference according to the googles. That tuned e36 is pretty sharp. I think i remember reading a wheels magazine article that claimed 0 to 100 in 4.4 or something back in the day. No where near that even brand new on a prepped drag strip. E36 has aged well in the looks department too.

My SMG left me stranded a few times, wasn't a simple 'open and close the bonnet' fix unfortunately. Had it converted to a manual soon

I know it's an old video, but in the future, the E46 M3 smg, has two modes when in launch mode. Most don't know this. They setup the same way, the only thing you do differently is, while engaging the throttle as you hold the shift lever forward, simply applying throttle slowly or quickly changes the modes,
Mode 1 burnout mode, wheel spinning like crazy,
Mode 2 launch hard no spin.
Mode 1, hold shifter slap throttle hard and fast, release lever and big burnout .
Mode 2, launch no spin, same process, only bring the throttle slowly to the floor. Count 3 seconds to reach full throttle, once floored, hold there and release lever for perfect launch every time. Enjoy. 😊

Loved the E36 since the first day I saw one at the dealers in 1992. But I had to buy the E46 M3 as it just has a bit more in all the right areas and I daily it, with a child seat for my little girl. Fantastic car. She thinks so too. 😁

With my M3 3.2 E36 (Evo) i did 5.35s (corrected) 0-100. Stock engine only me in the car equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4(not S) tires.

I n the UK the evo has a 3.23 final drive and the e46 has a 3.64 which standard has the e46 just in front and i know cos I've chased a few in my evo to the point where I now have fitted the e46 final drive into my evo with schrick 284 cams carbon filter, remap and its now in front of standard v8 m3, its brilliant fun 😀

I think the m346 needs a lot of Service. Launch control isn't a good idea in that state of service, that's true. SMG wasn't a bad idea. But correct usage was not really well explained from the beginning as everyone thought, yes that's an automatic- let's drive it like an automatic. Beautiful car anyway! I prefer the m346 in so many aspects compared to an m336.

PS4's on the Evo would make all the difference. In that state of tune it would beat the E46 in all gears
