Chalazion (Eyelid Cyst) Removal Animation

Показать описание
A chalazion is a red bump that can develop on the eyelid. It is sometimes called an eyelid cyst or a meibomian cyst. It slowly forms when an oil gland (called a meibomian) becomes blocked. If conservative management fails to resolve this cyst, it can be surgically excised as shown in this animation.

Produced by Dr. Chang who does not perform these procedures, but produced this animation for educational purposes.

Animation created with Dr. Stacy Smith of Utah Eye Surgery:

I just had a Chalazion removed last week. Eyelid is still puffy and seems like it’s holding water. My surgeon never even gave me an eyepatch. When I first left the office, it was not swollen but the next day it was puffy again, and has remained puffy for going on 11 days now. From my research, it looks like I have Ptosis as my eyelid is droopy still. It does not match the other one. Prior to surgery, This was ongoing for 3 months from a blocked gland. I still feel it’s clogged somehow even after surgery. Not sure if it was from when I touched my eye with some bacteria on accident or possible face or eye creams with retinoids I heard. My eye blew up got very swollen. Used every home remedy such as tea tree, turmeric, tons of antivirals like oregano oil and garlic and was also prescribed steroid drops and antibiotic doxycycline. I’m wondering how to clean the lid if it’s still clogged if it’s a gland. I dunno but wish my eye would go back to normal. Might seek out a steroid drop for my eyelid. Will post video eventually on my experience with this. On further inspection it definitely looks like ptosis as it’s only my left upper eyelid. It’s so embarrassing and I’m getting so frustrated and close to the edge. Can’t take much more. I wonder if it was from the retinoid creams, because personally, I feel like it is droopy from still holding a Adema and swelling. Somehow it is holding more water and or not properly draining. I also wonder if it is allergic, maybe it is my memory foam mattress that I got recently.perhaps it was from an infection from touching my eye. My honest thought is maybe I got it by touching it after sexual intercourse with my gf as she found out she had a uti shortly after I got my blepharitis. Thanks for any input. I’m hoping to get a kenalog injection and wish I would’ve did it originally rather then cuttreage incision. This is been by far the most frustrating and embarrassing thing of my life. I also fractured my hand a few years ago and I thought that chronic pain made me depressed. This is really getting to me.

I dunno what mine is. It’s a small, now hardened bump on upper eyelid. Started a month ago. Sue blew up swollen. Since went down a lot. Prescription for antibiotics and eye drop steroids. Doctor said it was a preceptal cellutlitis. But it sucks it won’t go away. I’ve tried everything! Warm compress, oregano oil on eyelid, ACV, I dunno. It corresponds with always a lot of stress as I’ve had some other serious injuries/issues that affect me mentally and physically. Also moving in my parents attic room again (sucks, .. but life happens), and also staying at my girlfriends often who has two dogs and a cat in a small space. We added air purifiers to help. It’s also currently winter in PA where I’m from. Never been known to have dry eyes or allergies. But possibly. Could be weak immune system. Stress. Allergies? Also; it also coincides with going to a Sephora one day and unfortunately I went crazy on all these eye cream samples and put a ton on eyelid and everywhere. Heard it could be from retinol… either way it’s embarrassing. Looks like I have a droopy eyelid. Feel like Job in Bible. One thing after the other.

i’m 16 years old and last june i got my first stye i had no idea what it was and didn’t do anything ab it which led it to not go away for months obviously it shrunk in size but it never left and then i got one on my lower eyelid of my other eye and had to have both of them removed along w another one i didn’t even know existed like in december. two days after my surgery i got a HUGE stye on my only eyelid that had never had one and i did warm compresses every day and it shrunk but never went away so i recentely had another surgery for that. so two surgeries for this and i’m only 16 and i was good for a few weeks but now i have one on my lower eyelid all of a sudden. idk what to do i’ve never gotten one before in my life and ever since that one day that i got one it just keeps coming back. also everyone says oh yea just apply warm compress it’ll go away in 3-4 days but mine NEVER GO AWAY i don’t know why or what to do. and of course i wear mascara i’m a teenage girl but i got hypoallergenic mascara and take it off and cleanse my eyelids w baby shampoo every night. idk what to do anymore i’m only 16 imagine the rest of my life

I get chalazions once in a blue moon. Warm compress and hot showers does the trick. Keep it clean.

If I had a chalazion on my top eyelid high dosing coffee seems to get rid of it but not if it's the bottom eyelid.

Nobody removes these anymore.. I would get 1-2 on each side, sometimes at the same time.. I had 1 on one side and 2 on the other.. I went to the eye doctor and they drained them, then I was blind for a couple hours.. Now it’s just a diagnosis from the doctor and prescribed medication and use a warm cloth, that’s all.. People have just become lazy on everything..

I am having blurred vision in my left eye which I had chalazion surgery yesterday. I was patched for 24 hours and the patched got removed today's morning. Is it normal to have blurred vision in the surgery eye for a day or two?

8 years since I had it and because it was taking to much time for the small lump disappear I went to the doctor again and he said it can take a bit more than one year, and after a year the lump disappeared, but since then my upper lid is a bit bigger then the other and caused me ptosis, looks like Im really tired but its just the skin that can’t fold properly. It’s really frustrating, not sure if I do ptosis surgery and remove a bit of the skin, but afraid if the skin get shorter and make my eye wide open or if there’s a way to remove something from inside the upper lid like fat to make it less swollen and easier to open the my left eye

I had one on my right eye and just warm compressions and washing of the eye clears it up! I’m not going to a doctor who’s just going to stick a instrument in my eye with the potential of causing blindness.. no thanks!

I've experienced multiple chalazions in both of my eyes. Allopathic medicine has limitations for this type of condition, as it doesn't address the root cause. The only permanent solution for chalazions is found in Ayurveda. I didn't undergo any surgery; there are Ayurvedic methods to naturally drain a chalazion. If you follow a certain diet, you'll never have a chalazion again. I'm sharing this because I've suffered from the anxiety of having chalazions multiple times, and I want to assure those with the same problem that it's not a big deal. A permanent solution is available through Ayurveda.
