This is heartbreaking. She was one of my faves growing up. I don't know how many times I sang along to, "Out Here On My Own" on my 45. That song was on repeat as a kid. I loved Fame, first the movie, then the TV series. If you haven't seen the movie DC Cab, you should look it up. It was hilarious. A lot of great actors was in it including Ms. Irene Cara. She was a very gifted and talented woman and was wrongfully taken advantage of in the industry. Rest in Peace Ms. Cara! Your work will forever live on. 🙏🥺❤️

RIP Irene Cara. As a dancer, your music was my childhood. FAME and Flashdance always brings me back to what I loved so much, the art of dance.

Ain’t gone lie: This song still gives me goosebumps when i listen to it. As a kid, i didn’t appreciate it at the time. But in my adult years, after battling chronic depression, for the 1st time i my life, I really want to live forever. RIP Irene Cara. 🌹🕊️

We were so spoiled in the 80's with so much greatness that great songs like this were not fully appreciated. Only after we experienced the proceeding decades do we now know what we had.

I was an 80s teen and this song is one of the classics. This song came out when I was in 6th grade. I had always enjoyed the song since my youth. Recently, I had actually been listening to this song while preparing for 10k races this week. The upbeat tempo and Irene's vocal talent make the song great for workouts. The energy in the song was awesome. RIP - Cara's vocal talent lives forever on YouTube.
