Just Windsurf - Unboxing - Severne NCX - Bad Rotation - SDM or RDM?

I got a package from Severne and decided to share a video with you.

So the issue are, I'm not able to get a proper rotation on Severne NCX sails when rigged on SDM mast. I have tried any possible trim without success. My way for a permanent solution was to buy a new RDM mast.

I hope this will give any of you with same issues some ideas how to proceed.
I have a feeling that many over-downhaul the NCX to achieve some rotation, but that can kill the performance of the sail, and the sail can be permanently damaged.

I had the same issues with the Ncx in combination with my SDM blue mast.

My solution was to completely release the tension of all the battens, screw it back till the screw is flaw with the batten. Then pull down the downhaul so the 4th window is half way loose leach. The outhaul need a bit tension. After that screws the battens till you find a bit tension. After that my rotation was pretty easy.

My issue was that the battens had to many tension during rigging, that gives the problem that the sail wasn't fit in the right way.

Yesterday I tried again to assemble a sail on the mast of the sdm. I watched the Video of Karo van Allen where she collects NCX. And she says that she works well on sdm. And he talks about it in the comments, too. I tried again to make sure. It didn't work out for me. I had to pull very hard on the mast. That you were going for a dream until the middle. According to the nickname, I pulled it as it is written on the sail. It didn't work well anyway. I kicked with my foot to switch. And the sail became flat and pulled badly. It works perfectly on the RDM mast. And pulls well and switches.

Unscrew thé batten, then carefuly scre them again until enough tension but not too much

After flipping the sail, only pull/pump with your back hand! :-)

Try to use a shorter extension and see the results...I tell u why a suspect the extension..For me the extra lenght of the etension the goes inside the mast makes it stiffer and so will not bend the way it should..or will start bending upper in the mast, causing. So just think of two masts, one inside the other...harder to bend...

Hey. Have you tried rigging a 7.0 sail on a 430 RDM mast with a 34 extension?

I have a 2022 NSX. maybe the sdm mast is suitable for earlier models?

Maybe you can shorten your batten a bit?

Not enough downhaul. Downhaul the sail until it rotates and you will see that it is also a lot faster and has better acceleration. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t look allright on land. It’s how it sails on the water. Hang loose!
