Germany has rejected a complete ban on Russian gas and oil imports over Russia invading Ukraine, but voices are growing louder for Berlin to ditch its economic imperative to take a moral stand. Germany imports more than half its gas from Russia.

The rest of the world should look to Germany as a reverse barometer, and do the opposite to whatever they do. If you already have nuclear power, do whatever you can to keep it and extend the life of the plants. Then build new nuclear, preferably advanced gen.IV nuclear. If you have the right conditions build hydro or geothermal. Otherwise, just nuclear. Don't waste a penny on so-called "renewables".

The people that think wind and solar will be enough for modern living are absolutely delusional. These people don’t have a clue about how much goes into keeping a power grid online they just hear some fantasy pipe dream that sounds good and they think if they cry and stop there feet they will get there way even though they have no clue how to implement what they want!

The coverage is silent on the reasons for the jump in prices. From what one learns, Russia has never reneged on contracted gas supply from day 1 including during the cold war days and it has even "increased" the quantum of gas pumped recently. It has all along been a dependable upholder of its side of the commercial deal. I think it would be willing to continue or improve this.Since the capture of Berlin in in 1945 Germany and USSR/Russia have maintained a war-free & fear-free relationship. It is based on mutual respect and trade inter dependence which is admirable and not on an anxiety fostering looking-over-the-shoulder nuclear deterrence.

Removing nuclear power plants is just not though out. Nuclear is the answer for such large populations. People in the power business know this but politicians interference has only hurt the inevitable.
