These videos are a godsend. Thank you for making such amazing resources available for everyone.

The explaination that heiban words have no down step made the name of the accent pattern make so much more sense to me.

This is excellent - after learning the structures of the 4 patterns, it seems like all I really need to learn is the drop or lack of a drop for each word. That's actually pretty easy!

Helped a lot, I'm studying for 8 months now and never understood what was the difference when they said "heiban, atamadaka, etc". After your videos I could really understand.

great explaination. i think the weird part is because i come from stress based language: no pitch differences sounds like an accent in itself. but you can feel it in your voice when you talk "robotically". i think the default on stressed words in atamadaka and higher volume and length.

it would be helpful if you highlight/use arrows on the things you are talking about onscreen cause as a super beginner i can't follow along cause i can't read hiragana that fast.

So within a phrase, you say each pitch pattern with its own pitch accent, and then the particle follows certain rules?

Im still a bit unsure how pitch works in full fledged sentences.

but is there any rule of where to drop the pitch at? Because words when combined together sometimes they ignore their original pitch accent pattern and become something else, as such the drop at pitch will also shift to somewhere else.
