ROB IM SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. I grew up on your show, I bought all your books, you improved my English, and my art. You really inspired me. And now I’m in one of Pakistans best art colleges, studying sculpture. Found your video bcs of an assignment. I just wanna say, thank you. <3 For all that you’ve done and for making art knowledge so easily accessible. You’ve inspired a generation of artists. Mad respect 🖤

I am so thankful I found your video. I am taking an art course online and our assignment is to make a wire sculpture, but with no hands on demonstration from our professor. You sure made it so easy to understand. Thank you so much.

5/10/23 cute video of miniature sculptures.
I see a lot of comments on what wire to use. This is just aluminum wire that you can find in any hardware store. You can use any flexible wire with decent thickness. Go down the electrical aisle or look in the craft store in the jewelry making section. You can find various types of pliers at either place. I wanted to do something unique and made a full size lady form in a dress out of a large tomato cage, chicken wire, aluminum wire and copper wire. I used the copper wire for the hair for contrast. I also used landscaping fabric in certain areas to hold the potting soil. I planted various sedums…ICE PLANTS, Hens and Chicks and Autumns Joy in a canvas apron that had pockets which was tied around the waist. Just like you would wear if you were cooking. I love up-cycling. I named her Mrs. Dirt. She stays out in the garden year round and she is quite lovely. I am going to do a Mr.Dirt this year since this is so much fun and I just love creating. I have also made a canoe out of thin bamboo sticks lined with land scraping fabric and cactus soil which sits in a patch of blue bells. Just play and have fun, don’t overthink it. Play around. Make what you love.
Other handy items to attach your work besides wire is zip ties and a staple gun if your using landscape fabric. You can also use spangnum moss to fill in gaps.

inserting a couple of LED lights inside the wood would have given it all an ethereal look. But it looks pretty good as is too

You are a great teacher and have a vibrant fun personality. Thank you for being just you. I am trying to buy the wiring and was wondering what gauge do think is better for this project? I can’t way to see more videos, again thank you. I see you say get metal but I didn’t hear what was the suggested size like what you are using. Great craft.
