Have you heard this sound before? 🚨 What did you think? 👀

🇩🇪 Upon researching, apparently there are 5 types of sirens that are common in Germany:

🔴 Warnung der Bevölkerung (Warning the public): acute danger such as floods
👉 Rising and falling wailing tone, 1 min

🟡 ABC-Alarm (NBC alarm): danger from nuclear, biological, or chemical warfare substances
👉 Rising and falling wailing tone, interrupted 2 times. 1 min, 30s pause, 1 min
❗ Mostly replaced by "Warnung der Bev."

🟢 Entwarnung (all-clear): end of danger
👉 Steady continuous tone, 1 min

🟠 Feueralarm (fire alarm): alerting the fire department
👉 Continuous loud tone, interrupted 2 times. 1 min

🟣 Probe (test): function test of the siren
👉 Short sequence. 12s or 5s

I didn't know this before, but now I do, thanks to you guys 😂 #themoreyouknow

Oh my god, as a Ukrainian who happened to flee to Germany in 2022, the first time I heard it I literally got flashbacks of Ukrainian sirens accompanied with some interesting explosion sounds

It can be a bit shocking since so many not from germany expect its alarm to just be that annoying eas remix.
Our actual siren(-s) here are a lot different and mostly really similar to the air raid sirens from ww2

Oh, it's for fire fighters? I just knew it was a test alarm but never really knew what it was for.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 guys they even let the phones have alarms (on the test days ) one after the other the phones in class make that beeping sound along with the sirens and it gets more and more chaotic it’s just hilarious

Here in the Netherlands we have the test alarm the first monday of the month at 12:00. Since I was little I remember hearing this when I was at school and I am completely used to it now😅, kinda crazy....

In Czechia we have 3 types of sirens
1. Test: a continuous tone for 140 seconds, every first Wednesday of the month, warnings of test before and after, starts at 12:00:00/"right" noon, please report a malfunction if there is one near you
2. Fire: continuous tone for 25 seconds then 10 second break then continuous tone for 25 seconds again, if you are anything close to a firefighter be active and work
3. General Danger: up and down non-continuous tone for 140 seconds, try to gather as much information as posible about the threat, seek shelter unless told otherwise, follow the orders of emergency services, type of danger is warned of after the siren

In my village it's on the roof of the old city hall literally across the street and holy shit it is loud. We used to live in the same village but less central, so we never noticed it THAT much. When we moved we had the front door open and were in the staircase when it started the first time and it echoed through the whole staircase. I thought my ears are falling off

As an Dutch/Turkish person, we have a similar alarm that goes off on the first monday of the month at exactly 12:00 as an test alarm. So then i am mostly at school and kids always make "jokes" about something like "Oh no tornado!! Ahh!" So if it isnt a monday, nor exactly 12 o' clock... RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Edit: this happens in the netherlands, by the way.

I live in a small village in Germany too and have been all my life. Last year, they replaced the old siren (heard in the video) with an ELECTRIC one. Same sound, way scarier. I didnt know they replace it and i thought its over now and i have to die

The Netherlands does did this as well, but switched to texts. Absurd in my opinion since you're depended on your phone being charged to know if a bombing will happen.

It actually happened today!.. For everyone. It's not for firefighters, it's just a test to make us calm in any future disasters... I think?
