This question popped into my head while watching another video and I couldn't grapple it properly until I found your video, which took about an hour. Every time I searched this question I would get "Why the Earth started spinning" or "What is the Conservation of Angular Momentum". Eventually, I gave up and as soon as I swapped back to Youtube I saw this in my recommended! Thanks for this video, really helped.

would love to see your take on gyroscopes. I've only ever had them explained to me in terms of mathematical things like cross-products of vectors and never in terms of more fundamental ideas like Newton's laws, although I'm sure it can be done. Love the vids xx

Had my teacher simply said "acceleration" is a poorly chosen name, and that it _also involves direction_, I would've understood the whole thing a lot better some 25 years ago. I never understood that there even is a difference between speed and velocity, and the fact both are the same word in my language doesn't really help either. The airquotes and those three words ("also involves direction") made it click, bloody finally! Surely a whole lot better than the usual "well it does go a lot deeper but just go with what I say and ignore the rest" in school...
