Another great episode! Surprised that you didn't mention the (admittedly older) lore that the mansion was outfitted with traps and secret passages due to Lord Spencer's fascination with old espionage drama-thriller stories; these books (and to a lesser extent the films they inspired) were often set in Victorian style mansions, because the excessively ornate and complicated architecture made the incorporation of secret passageways and death traps a believable expansion. Indeed, the secret passageways are hardly an expansion at all; many Victorian mansions and manors included hidden doors and passages, so that servants would be able to move between rooms without being seen by the aristocracy, who relished being able to ignore their presence until they were needed.

If I was a millionaire I'd have this mansion built exact.

A couple of the things that always got me were that a lot of rooms have no windows, while corridors do, and that there's only one bathroom and a couple of small, windowless, bedrooms.

Great video, as per usual. Really cool how you can point out things I've never considered in a game I've played so many times over the years.

Yeah, two of the Three Founders of Umbrella, Spencer and Ashford, were from aristocratic families as were some of the other prominent early Umbrella members. So the Victorian design of the older Umbrella facilities like the Spencer Estate, the Arklay Training Center, Rockford Island etc has always fit with Umbrella despite how silly it can seem.

In fact, the Ashford Family line is kind of a plot point in Code Veronica (which in my humble opinion is a rather underrated gem of the series).

But it also helped give those early RE games a sense of shared style. Even RE2 and RE3 which were largely set in more modern cityscapes had that archaic Victorian style pop up here and there. Even RE4 which saw the end of Umbrella had it pop up in the castle and to lesser extent, the village.

Even though The Spencer Mansion is from Resident Evil it be cool to see it used more for other things.

Wow I love this video about the mansion in Resident Evil! I'm a sucker for horror (some adventure) games that let's you explore a creepy mansion or castle for either a short time or the whole game - I guess I love classic/gothic horror themes. This video makes me wish more people would make videos about the locations games are set in and cover any symbolism, actual style and what makes it that style, real life comparisons in history etc.
I've played Resident Evil 1 Remake, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 7, Kingdom Hearts 1 with Hollow Bastion (fav location btw), Kingdome Hearts 2 with Twilight Town mansion & Beast's Castle, The Evil Within with the Victoriano Mansion, Dark Cloud 2 aka Dark Chronicles 2 and it's Moon Flower Palace & Max's mansion, Luigi's Mansion, The Haunted Mansion Disney game, Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights with the Mystic Manor, Epic Mickey with Dark Beauty Castle & Lonesome Manor, Black Mirror castle in Black Mirror games (there are at least 4), Hyrule Castle in Legend of Zelda games, Rose Garden Orphanage in Rule of Rose, Castle of the Dead in Dragon's Crown, Remothered Tormented Fathers, Belli Castle & Mansion in Haunting Ground and lastly one I haven't played and that is Witch's House.... yeah I am a sucker for mansions & castles in games lol. I wish I knew of others. Maybe I can search on youtube for video lists or google.
Would you ever consider doing a video on symbolism (if any is to be found) and/or about the location(s) in these games?: Witch's House, Black Mirror, The Evil Within's Victoriano Mansion, Haunting Ground's Belli castle & mansion (maybe someone else's gameplay footage because it's a hard to find expensive game) & Remothered Tormented Fathers.
You have a lot of game content that sounds appealing to me so I got a lot of watching ahead of me lol. I'll be sure to like and subscribe right now :)

The art wasn't in the mansion, but I wonder if the nude woman from the book puzzle in the Guardhouse was an actual painting?

I recently re-played Resident Evil Zero and some of the paintings from the Spencer Mansion also appear in that game. There may be more but I noticed these two:

Judith Beheading Holofernes appears in Dr. Marcus' basement office (the room w/ the water tank). When clicking on the painting it says "Woman in Love with a Dead Man".

Neuschwanstein Castle appears in the Training Facility Art Room (where you find the grenade launcher and white angel).
