Single Men In America Hit With SCARY Truth

New research shows bad news for adult men as single men skyrocket and become a lonely group in America. John Iadarola and Adrienne Lawrence break it down on The Damage Report.

"Younger and middle-aged men are the loneliest they’ve ever been in generations, and it’s probably going to get worst.

This is not my typical rosy view of relationships but a reality nonetheless. Over the last 30 years, men have become a larger portion of that growing group of long-term single people. And while you don’t actually need to be in a relationship to be happy, men typically are happier and healthier when partnered.

Here are three broad trends in the relationship landscape that suggest heterosexual men are in for a rough road ahead:

Dating Apps. Whether you’re just starting to date or you’re recently divorced and dating again, dating apps are a huge driver of new romantic connections in the United States. The only problem is that upwards of 62% of users are men and many women are overwhelmed with how many options they have. Competition in online dating is fierce, and lucky in-person chance encounters with dreamy partners are rarer than ever."

I've honestly reached a point where I don't worry anymore. If it happens, it happens. Almost nothing lasts, anyway. Most men just want someone to be nice to, and someone to be nice to them. If unpartnered men fair worse economically than partnered men, it might have something to do with having dual incomes in a household since many women are part of the workforce in this day and age. Stay at home mom or dad isn't really a thing anymore because nobody can afford it.

I'm not overweight, make good money, own my house, and just prefer to be single. Nothing at all against women, if I happen to run into one I click enough with maybe we can see what happens, but I've had some bad experiences and I'm ambivalent towards the potential of shaking the stability I've built for myself over the years. The data fails to mention if these single men are happy. It just assumes they are lonely. How many are widows or single fathers? As a woman, I'm single by choice. Why can't it be the same for men. There is still this assumption in society that you can't be happy without a significant other person in your life.

I think when i was in my late twenties and getting into my 30s, the main reason i was not looking at starting a family anytime soon was because i was still trying to stand on my own two feet. It would've been irresponsible for me to look for a wife and start a family when i was barely able to support myself.

So if the right-wing is worried about a decline in traditional families, maybe they should ensure we have a strong economy, with good paying jobs instead of giving the rich and corporations tax breaks as the off-shore jobs for max profits.

I’m 43, my wife died 3 years ago, just before covid started. Between losing her half of the income, then losing mine during covid, I lost the apartment. So I’m on the streets now. Not a great place to be if your looking to impress woman.

Fair point from Adrienne; however, she is missing the part of economic opportunity, and education. Adrienne, how are men going to develop the skills you are demanding when college is unaffordable, and people are just scraping by? The better off you are from birth, the more likely is that you will get an education, and even go to Ivy League schools, and be a good dating prospect.

Adrienne, I think you are just blaming men because of your bias. Men who hate women also make overgeneralizations, and they blame women as if everything was a conscious decision. Why do women prefer wealthy men? Because of inequality. Similarly with racist views. Why are most people in jail black? You can argue that because black people are more crime prone, or you can blame it on inequality and a racist society.

Adrienne, stop making assumptions about men. Trust me. For every assumption women have about men, men also have about women. This don’t lead to anything good. I think what is causing all this is a worsening of our economic conditions. Just like ugly women don’t have much luck, broke men don’t have much luck either.

Another issue is, why is being single assumed to be a bad thing? This is similar to the assumption that being gay is bad, or not having children is bad. You just have to swim against the current.
