The coronavirus pandemic's long-term impact on healthcare systems | COVID-19 Special

Even as many parts of the world start to open up again, front line workers are struggling to cope with the silent toll of the COVID-19 pandemic - burnout.
From academic research centers to scientific journals, health workers and scientists fighting the pandemic say they are hitting a wall. Some health-care workers have already thrown in the towel and taken up a completely different job. For the doctors and nurses who can soldier on, there's still a lot of work. There may be light at the end of the tunnel, but the crisis isn't over.

@DW, if health workers choose away-time from clinic under the psychological duress, that is a better choice than setting potential path towards serious mental health complications. They have done their part, they may choose to return or not (as health workers they must be fit to make the decision) and still are very worthy of the respect they receive. I am very grateful the medical fraternity for what they're taking on.
Information regarding antibody test was also helpful!

I was considered as "essential worker" and have been working since the start of the pandemic. I made printed circuit boards, how is that an essential business? I quit due to health concerns and this was about a year ago and was unable to get pay because I quit. Now, people who have been getting unemployment and then told to get back to work are quitting now? Even more ludicrous.

I feel very sorry for both the doctors and nurses what they must be going through having to see and try to treat all those COVID patients and seeing them drop down dead in front of them.

🤝🤝🤝 People all around the world not only face with covid-19, but also face with its consequences such as : stressors, trauma, PTSD, melancholic depression, suicidal thoughts, hopelessness, jobless, mental health crisis risks, etc.
WHO & WPA & WB should play its important role to resolve these issues as soon as possible.
Pray for our humanities !
Huge loves from Cambodian people

Well lots of people are willing to become nurses but the nursing programs in my area (South Bay Silicon Valley) for RN through lower cost community college have been “under reorganization” for the past two years! I’m trying to become a nurse and it’s difficult to say the least. Difficult to get into any program that is up and running.

We had a outbreak in our old people´s home and everything has changed.
Lots of sick notes since then, because we´re all traumatized of what we´ve seen... Old (dement) people in isolation for weeks, staring at the walls and mentally in a very bad state after all that now.

The long-term ramifications will be tremendous in health or care wokers...PTSD, suicides or other post deseases...
