I really think that the man and dog running are a great addition. On a lot of size videos, especially outer space ones, the shrinkage is the same percent rate, and you very quickly lose the sense of scale as it just devolves into shrinking objects. You get the Earth shrinking at the same rate as monster stars like UY Scuti. By having the runners, the actual movement is at a more steady pace, so the small trees pass faster and the big ones pass slower, you can feel the difference in size.

In Greece we have olive trees 2500 - 3000 years old. Some say even 5000 years old.

There was such an olive tree that was called "Athena's tree"... supposedly had been planted by the goddess Athena and a bus driver fell on it and ripped it off. It was 2500 years old...
