Elgato 4K60 Pro Review - $400 Capture Card for PC & Console

Показать описание
We review the Elgato 4K60 PRO capture card, used for console (Xbox, PS4) and PC streaming and gameplay recording.

We tested the Elgato 4K60 Pro capture card for console gameplay capture, streaming, and PC capture. The Elgato 4k60 Pro is one of the only capture cards rated for 4K and 60FPS capture at an affordable price -- roughly $400 -- and deserved careful review. We also tested for overheating and temperatures on the Elgato 4K60.

I hope elgato does not behave like coolmaster and get upset cause of the review. What is it with companies going for looks instead of performance?

Only argument I have is playing in 4k while streaming lower. Personally I use it for that. So my experience.

About time someone broke down this product and gave it a proper review. Thanks, I've been waiting ages for this.

The Amazon store page is one that is awfully set up where different "model" versions are actually different product so all the reviews and q&a questions are all stacked into the same page. So the comments, reviews, and q&a is talking about the 4k60 pro, HD60, , HD60 Pro, and HD60 S. So someone asking if "this" will work with a laptop, you don't know which product they are talking about. If it is the HD60 it is possible since it is USB based. So yea i hate when the sellers set up the page like this, and even worst where it is completely different product so you have no idea what people reviewed.

You mention the competing Magewell product, it does have an on-board ASIC that does all the encoding and AA work which is why it has the higher price and fan. I own the dual 1080p capture card and rarely use it (classroom video capture stuff). If you're curious to test it out, toss me a DM.

So many dreams of being a famous streamer will begin with it, so many dreams will be shattered and it put on ebay for sale.

I feel like most of us would get this card, not just for the 4k for the future, but the only card that lets us do 144hz and above. Without doing the boof clone screening method that dumbs down 144hz to 60hz and screen tearing on obs.

Dat editing on the temp graph. As Steve talks, events he's talking about are followed by noticeable changes in the progressing timeline of the results.

NICE WORK whoever did that, so clean.

You would need this card if you wanted to play in 4K and do anything with that signal in terms of capture. If you had a 1080p capture card, the console would need to be set to 1080p as well. Even if you streamed in 720p60, if you wanted to play in 4K on your console for yourself you would need a card like the 4K60 Pro or a 4K > 1080p hardware scaler which could be expensive.

That and for PC capture, it can support 240hz at 1080p and 144hz at 1440p. So nice for dual PC setups.

Why this is recommended to me 2 years late I'll never understand Youtubes algorithm, however, seeing Younger Steve makes me happy.

The only reason I bought this was because I have a 4K, 10 bit HDR monitor and a PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. I want to enjoy 4K and my monitor so I bought the 4K60 Pro.

With an ElGato HD60 or 60S, you can’t even play in 4K because the capture card doesn’t pass through 4K. I don’t mind streaming in 1080p but I need my 4K goodness!

I can’t believe mining made me buy both consoles and the ElGato 4K60 Pro but it is what it is and they’ve been a good bit of fun.

Thanks as always for your incredibly thorough videos guys!

It definitely has a point.

I bought the card for it's possibility to intake 1440p144. It doesn't record the 144hz, but it passes it through without adding tearing to either the gameplay or recording which a lot of streamers want.

You can also capture a DSLR/Mirrorless Camera for a live show for example!!

Hello to the random person who reads this

@gamers nexus it basically allows streamers who play at high refresh rates to play the games at higher refresh rates and mirror it via the hdmi port on the gpu. It is a big pain and finally there is a product that solves issues regarding the refresh rates.

even if you have a 4k60 source and the upload speed to stream that 4k60 video you still have to consider, how many people can actually watch that? the streams i watch on Twitch are usually at 720p60 or 1080p30, rarely 1080p60 and then at a moderate bitrate. from what i've heard that's generally the best option that the most viewers can watch without buffering forever, especially international audience. don't know about YT streaming or Mixer or whatever else there is.
local recording and on demand uploads are a different affair, of course
