The Blues Brothers: The car chase Scene

What’s happening in this The Blues Brothers movie clip?
As the Blues Brothers approach the city, all city police authorities are alerted and "the use of excessive force is approved" in their apprehension. The chase continues in Chicago, reaching speeds of 110 mph on Lower Wacker Drive. Dozens of police cars continue to pile up. Hearing chatter on the police radios, the Nazis spot the Bluesmobile and give chase. The Bluesmobile stops at the edge of a highway overpass under construction, but the car with the lead Nazi tumble over the edge. Jake and Elwood arrive at Daley Plaza just in time, as their car literally falls apart. The police buildup continues absurdly, with National Guard units, helicopters, and SWAT teams getting involved. Jake and Elwood hastily make their way to the Cook County Assessor's Office.

What’s the movie The Blues Brothers about?
Jake Blues (John Belushi from National Lampoon's Animal House) decides to re-form his music group with his brother Elwood (Dan Aykroyd from Ghostbusters). They want to raise money to save the orphanage where they were raised.

What no-one has mentioned is that for years, this movie held the record for most cars destroyed in one movie and even to this day, this scene is one of the most memorable car chase scenes in any movie or video game.

The Bluesmobile itself is a great character in his film. The love of Elwood's life, second only to his brother.

I love how the laws of physics just get tossed out the garbage randomly, I was laughing so hard when the nazi car starts gaining altitude for no reason

The visuals in this were beyond its time. No CGI here, just plain old fashioned mayhem!

Didn’t catch the demise of the Bluesmobile, probably the most heart wrenching part of the movie.

That film speed at 2:25 was not sped up. The Stuntman said in a documentary he was really doing over 110! Can you imagine driving under the EL THAT fast! One of my favorite scenes of the movie.

Adding Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries really was as momental as the Luger pistol. One of the best comedies ever.

3:37-3:43 Props to the 6 pack, untouched by 3 car chase cars.

Use of unnecessary violence to apprehend the Blues Brothers has been approved.

I deeply love the over the top/cartoony tone they gave to this car chase, it makes this sequence H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S !

Fast & Furious could never. REAL cars, REAL driving, no CGI, just skill and guts. The real thing will always beat computerized in my book.

What a great movie ! It was probably one of the funniest movies ever. The number of cars wrecked set a record at that time too. Belushi and Ackroyd made a masterpiece with all the talent they got to participate in the flick. I enjoyed watching a number of clips just now - they had me laughing for about a half hour.

I like how "Ride of the Valkires" was included in second half of the chase

Man it must have been a blast being the stunt coordinator. He was the guy in the movie that said “Do you have a Ms Piggy?”

How can you not include the Blues Mobile completely falling apart after all that!!
