I finally got the chance to install the Craftsman cabinets, but unfortunately I ran into a snag. The craftsman products have varying defects. Very disappointing!!

Thank you to all who has joined me in this experimental journey in sharing my dream garage build. I just decided that this will be the final episode in conclusion to the dedicated segment. I hope some of you have enjoyed it, regardless it was a lot of fun for me. Going forward, I can finally focus working on my project cars...More VW Golf R indeed!!

looks good! I'm going to install one for hubby! Only suggestion, if I may, is the versatrack should have more than the screws you used in the center of the track. there is a groove on the top and bottom of the rail, between the lips where you hang hooks. That way you have screws on the top part of the rail and bottom. It will keep the top of the rail more secure and stop it from bending forward w/the weight. I only make this suggestion because it looked as if the screws are in the middle of the rail.

Looks great! I'm installing some Versatrack today. I also have the same vintage tool chests that you have. They still look brand new because I keep them clean, lubed and waxed. Wish they had ball bearing drawer glides but they are not bad as long as you don't overload the drawers and keep them lubed.

Good job on finding a simple solution to a small problem. Beats buying another and returning the old. Craftsman used to build better cabinets when they were made in the USA. My set up is also all Craftsman. One 3 stack chest, two 2 stack chest and one lower cabinet under my bench. All USA stuff, purchased good used. Picked up a workbench that I'm restoring to match the other chests. It's black frame, red drawers. I'll make it red frame and dark gray drawers. Enjoy your purchases. I also picked up a tall metal 2 door cabinet, not Craftsman, and restored it to look like the Craftsman one with same color combo.

Go back to the store and buy another cabinet
Take a good shelf out of that package
Put the bad shelf back in the new package
Take it back to the store and tell them the shelf is defective
Saves having to disassemble the whole thing, you still got the shelves on sale at the previous price, and Craftsman still gets their defective shelf back
