You were spot on about how overwhelmed new players feel... BFA was my first expansion (I played wow a bit before as a total noob on some private servers) after hearing that Legion was pretty good. I was both bored and lost 2-3 months in, the game just reminded at every step how much my account was behind because of not playing previously and then I jumped to classic

I agree with your point about getting overwhelmed with weekly/dailies. I find my annoyance with the 25 quest limit is turning into a real problem. I'm juggling my quest log, like I used to juggle my bag space back in Cata. If I see a new quest I need, I have to drop something else, and I just start to get lost.

In my opinion idea of it being hard to switch between covenants and at the same time them being a "you will be better at X" is a bad one because it will lead to an incompatible for a wow idea "You have one rogue character for raiding, another rogue character for pvp and another rogue character for mythic+", it works for other mmo with much more niche roles like dedicated crafters or resource gatherers, and wow ain't one of them. What would work for wow is returning to separate role "progression" like it was with separate items for tanks, dps, rdps and healers and also introducing the mentioned "what do you want to do better" progression where you could work towards getting better talents/spells for mythic + for a while and then deciding to do pvp and starting to work on that. A word on itemization: i really hoped that Blizzard experimentation in Legion with legendaries and items with special effects and mini-sets and how they intertwine with each other (and i'm not even talking about alternative spec-enabling items like Nightblooming Frond + Slice and Dice for combat rogues which was a very cool and competitive alternative for a usual dice-rolling outlaw) would go further in BfA, but not only there were no sign of that but there were also no class sets which was pretty sad as they brought gameplay variety for a spec within the addon. Also i think returning some class/spec identity within a group/raid would be nice, if I recall correctly Burning Crusade had group-wide but not raid-wide buffs which brought a pretty cool idea of optimizing each group setup within the raid, i would love to see that more fleshed out in WoW.

On the Shadowlards - for me the big issue is that the theme of addon doesn't connect with me at all. We could have an addon dedicated to fighting legion on different planets, or addon about fighting Nzoth and Black Empire, but instead they both were condensed into one content patch each and we're getting completely new "thing" that was not present in-game in any way and just feels bland and boring. Not mentioning my complete lack of trust in Blizzard after such a fail of BfA (i dare to say that WoD was a better addon) and Warcraft 3 refunded.

I really liked this video. And the best thing you said was @11:02, which should mean that i can level up with my friends all the way to 60, without having to worry about choosing different Covenants. I love that. :)

Sound is crystal clear! But so it’s also kind of more „ clear and louder“. The old mic gave your voice this special extra touch on the melancholic voice 🤣
