50% For How do I get 50% VA disability for migraines?

In the video Leah, discusses the intricacies of obtaining a 50% disability rating for service-connected migraines in the Veterans Affairs (VA) system. She emphasizes that many veterans aim to increase their disability rating from 30% to 50% but often face denials due to misunderstandings about the criteria. The key criteria for a 50% rating include very frequent, prostrating, and economically debilitating migraines. Leah explains that "prostrating" migraines are severely debilitating and disrupt normal activities. She notes the importance of maintaining a detailed log of migraine occurrences and symptoms, as this can provide necessary evidence of their impact. The difference between 30% and 50% ratings hinges on the "severe economic inadaptability" caused by the migraines. This is often evidenced by factors like frequent sick leave, doctor's notes, or supervisor reports indicating significant work impact.

Its all about wording! If you have more then 3 migraines per week you need to use the posturing. I'd done 4 c&p exams for migraines and kept getting rated 0%. On my 5th exam the doctor read all my previous notes and noticed they never used the word posturing even though i stated that word many times. After he submitted his exam I got 50% within a week!

They dropped 50% on me. 18 mo. diagnosis VA neuro. Nexus wording in the med record from PCP. Uploaded log a year previously. months of messages, ER stops right after migraine (3). Statements from fam and work about missed work and history of headaches. My own 38cfr matching statement in a paragraph. 1 prestige IMO.
Went straight to records review and granted 50 in 8 days flat. Migraines suck, but compensation helps.

I am a personal trainer, & have told C&P examiner that I've had to reschedule/reassign clients due to my migraines, & also called in sick, & examiner still denied me.I'm getting Botox injections in my head & neck due to my Migraines along with monthly Ajovy injections.

I just got 30% secondary to tinnitus. I was happy with this.

I have tinnitus and sleep apnea. I have bad headaches and my VA doctor has had a scan done, heart checks, and all but he just left it hanging because he said he can't find a cause. I have little faith in VA doctors. I have migraines weekly and headaches daily and he didn't even give me ibuprofen. I wish we could use civilian doctors!

Great vid. Seems more practical to medically prove secondary 30% with an existing 10% Tinnitus disability then document with work to prove 50% with six+ months of records. In my mind, how much sick time to take off work is too broad to get denied then work on an appeal for years.

I did a QTC appointment for this last week. The NP walked through almost all of this. We discussed things for about 20 minutes. But she didn't care about my migraine log or how much time I missed work. I was told "the VA doesn't ask those questions anymore". I was filing secondary to something else. The last doctor in the office I had to see only asked me if I complained about these in service then sent me out the door in less than 5 minutes. I explained it was secondary to something else. I was still rushed out the door. Guess I just wait and see how it goes.

I had 7 medications fail until I found botox and sjovy. Very severe, very frequent, vestibular therapy for vestibular migraines. Over a decade of consistent migraine specific treatment and established multi day migraines. Managed to get a VA neurologist to do a quick note connecting them to my mental health symptoms for my psych. Ended up using it as a nexus and got the 50% I needed to have 95. Not only did they give me give me 100% on my first try for it, but also P&T. It was shocking. Usually guys have to file multiple times for 100 and a few more times for P&T.

This all makes sense. I am retired and suffer 10-15 migraines per month and have for 30 years but for some reason I was rated at 30% for them. How they came to that conclusion is beyond me. My neurologist said I was unemployable which he documented in my medical record. He went on to say he couldn't hire me to take out his trash. Because of the severity of my migraines and frequency, there's no way I could hold down a normal job. My whole life is a roller coaster of pain so I mostly just suffer. I am filing a claim for an increase in about a month or so. I'm hoping the correct rating of 50% is awarded to me like it should have been all along. Hopefully that will put me at 100%, hopefully.

Would it be possible to claim migraines without having any treatment records? I used to think they were just really strong headaches. And would it be harder to prove economic in-adaptability if I was going to school instead of working?

Great video , Thanks. Do you know the success percentages on a Migraine supplemental appeal?? I did the supplemental and included much more evidence, like logs, 2 more Nexus letters and Prescriptions. Just curious, been waiting a few months.

I explained to C&P examiner that out of my 3 migraines weekly 1that is so bad that all I can do is lay in a dark cool room and he marked prostrating 1 or more monthly and not completely prostrating. He even noted that I miss work once weekly on average.

I understand a note from your boss but what if you are self employed? How do I address the missing work?
