German cabinet members on Tuesday approved legal changes to grant the federal government more power to enforce coronavirus regulations in German states. The changes to the German Infection Protection Act must now be passed in the German parliament, the Bundestag. If approved, the new "federal emergency brake" means that any region in any state with a high COVID case incidence will be legally required to implement a uniform set of rules set out by the federal government.
The government, led by Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU), wants to fast-track approval. However, the timeline for enacting the new regulations remains unclear.

What is incredible is that normal everyday people have been saying, since the very beginning, how ridiculous it is to close everything outdoor where you have, obviously fresh air and wind

While simultaneously squeezing in 100 people in an Aldi or other small shop that are not even ventilated, but certainly air condition recycling and blowing the "infected" air throughout the shop

I am from southern Italy, and here we are in bad shape, few vaccines, often given to people who are not elderly or fragile, but because they are recommended, an exhausted company, since this area of Italy was not in good shape before the pandemic.
Now in Rome, there are demonstrations every day, people want to reopen, and let's not talk about the public debt for heaven's sake, and how this monster will have to be repaid.

ayyy im australian we listened to the governments restrictions our government handled the pandemic right anddd guess what we dont have to wear masks social distancing is non existent we are encouraged to travel to other states were going to have a travel bubble with new Zealand. This is why all the other countries people and government should have taken action in the beginning of the pandemic its to late now now you just have vaccines

Very important dialogues took place I this episodes, especially that of indoor infections.
The government should heed to these expert opinions, in thinking about the lockdowns .
It's become a very tough fight. Thanks so much DW for your inputs to survive.

Here a fun little activity: take a bunch of covid news reports from 2020 and 2021, mix them up, and try and figure out which ones are from which year

"Despite being in a soft lockdown... cases are going up"

A "soft lockdown" has no impact on reducing case numbers. You need a hard lockdown. An actual lockdown.

Lock down properly then open up after suppression. That is the ONLY answer

Thinking about the fact, that over 60% of infected people have no symptoms whatsoever and that only around 0, 3 % die of the sicknes, while watching this

She didn't addressed the question why the new law is controversial.

Aren't we supposed to hold authorities and law-makers accountable at this point, that if their restrictions were not going to work then why they did forceful lockdowns, distancing and unemployment? Blaming the public doesn't cover your use of authority without responsibility.

That's typical dictator move. Either leave us on our own and we'd be responsible for ourselves or take responsibility if things under your authority failed to work.

I think if you get asked what solutions you propose and you don’t propose any isn’t looking so good to be honest.
