In a world plagued by threatening creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in the Japan Defense Force to defeat them.

"Let's wipe out the Kaiju together."

Kafka pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to go their separate ways and caused him to abandon his lifelong ambition.

He found himself employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles. Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is now the Captain of the Defense Force's 3rd Division. As it stands, he is currently unworthy of fighting Kaiju alongside her.

At work, Kafka crosses paths with the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno's undying determination to join the Defense Force leaves no room for failure. His perseverance reawakens Kafka's ambition of standing next to Mina as they protect humanity from Kaiju together.

A dream frozen by time, thawed by a burning promise.

As someone who has been waiting for years for this to come out, I can only hope this gets the animation it deserves.

This series is about not giving up and making your dream a reality. For some people that might not be enough but honestly the protagonist is very relatable to older people like for example I just turned 30 and bout to start my career as a wildland fire fighter. In the first volume I knew exactly how dude was feeling since he himself is 33 and is chasing his dream.

Im excited! Its rare i feel that we get characters like Kafka, as well as the story being on a simpler side (atm it seems) and the combat destruction are chefs kiss. For these reasons its been one of my favorite newerish mangas to come out.

I wonder how architecture would change for cities if kaiju were real. Im imagining lots of space between buildings, lower to the ground and either heavily reinforced to act like a single structure like stepping on a solid block or to be able to fall apart safely with minimal damage to surrounding areas and possibly black box safety rooms people could hide in before the building fell and wait for rescue workers in. Like a steel reinforced room with safety seats on the walls for people to strap into.

I waited so long for this to be an anime I read the first few chapters and I loved it so I waited for it to be an anime but I couldn’t wait and read it until the latest chapter I am so happy to see this finally happening
