Operation Ridge - Hürtgen Forest - WW2 Reenactment Film (2020)

Operation Ridge is a living history event attended by WW2 reenactors in the UK. For three days, troopers of the 28th Infantry Division fought the Germans, the weather, and the terrain.

I was tasked with capturing the movements of the 28th during the weekend, and have catalogued them into this combat footage reel.

It really was the hardest enactment battle I have done. And my legs are still suffering.

Bloody outstanding effort.

Still not looking forward to the next one. But next year I will be rearing to go again.

I've even seen, in a Russian reenactment, that they use a real 35mm WW2 Eyemo movie camera. A lot of work, filming developing and scanning it, but the results are impossibly close to the real thing

It would be cool if someone made a movie that looked like this, with the "realism" of saving private ryan. Documentary style but with a story.

Crop it to a British pathé film aspect ratio and it looks fairly real.
