India is a complex nation. It is a nation of highly emotional people. Where some are emotionally attached to their caste, some to their region, some to their ideologies. Educated or not doesn't matter. On top of that since there is a majority who are economically vulnerable, politics is all about winning those emotional and vulnerable through any means available. People who are logical cannot be exploited. So in a democratic polity its all about charging public emotionally and winning them over. Its only one vote to win from one person.
