The "Volume" is financial punishment for political ego bruising since the defense team has to review/read all evidence (even totally unrelated) and they bill by the minute. The government punishes the defendants all the way up to the verdict, or a stay (no verdict/no not guilty) which seems to be the pattern and really only means that we don't think we're going to legally pursue this matter (unless we later change our minds). It's so unbalanced. Can you sue a head of state for damages?

The crown prosecutor here has to be the dimmest of the potential picks...

- because of fairly recent case law, an accused trial should be within 12 months

- if significant delays are experienced as a result of crown actions/inactions, the trial can be dismissed entirely and the accused walks

- I would argue the delay is NOT the result of the defense's motion.

The defense didnt have a choice when the crown decides to dump a ton of 'new disclosure' at the very last minute...if the crown is so disorganized they cant be bothered to give the defense all of the disclosure up front, thats the crown's fault.


Over and over again, we are witness to federal prosecutors being some of the most incompetent lawyers in the country. Like a 2nd year law student would have been a better choice to have on the file....

I think Pat going with a Judge only is probably the best. I highly doubt he would find any jury to be unbiased against him as he was painted public enemy #1 more over Tamara or Chris.

As you're laying it out so far, how has the right for a quick trial(within reason) not been asked to be enforced ? The Coutts folks have done nothing but time and a half thus far. Straight up dead time. When does sanity enter the room ?
