Right Stuf anime has been absorbed by Crunchyroll, and they immediately announced that they will no longer be selling "erotica products." Sony seems to be determined to OWN anime here in the States. Funimation, Aniplex, Crunchyroll and now Right Stuf. Hmmm.

EDIT: AMC owns HiDive. I can't keep track of who owns what anymore. It's crazy.

I really don't like how manga and anime are becoming downsized to a small group of people owning this stuff. It gives me bad vibes.

No more yearly birthday sale. No more membership prices. No more preorder sales. No more exclusives. Everything will go away with Crunchyroll, they are the Disney of the anime industry.

Just remember, anime grils bad, but Abby getting raw-dogged is perfectly fine! Thanks Sony, you filthy hypocrites!

Also I freaking hate how when a company is legally bought and sold and they turn around and say "We've joined the ____ family." Like no the hell you didn't. You were bought out.

The funny thing is, every time these companies buy up a supplier of this very nieche but invested market and then ruin it with "no erotica" and "mass market friendly", the one profiting from it most is freaking China, because all those bootleg sellers are quickly becoming the only suppliers of ecchi stuff (apart from very pricey Japan imports). Well done!

Man Right Stuf was one of my favorite anime websites for buying collectible box sets and other cool stuff. Shame to see it become another part of the devil company that is Crunchyroll

Great… I’ve been buying from Rightstuf for years. This monopoly on American distribution of anime needs to go.

Ah, eroticism is a no no, but all that gore... chefs kiss. Hypocrites.

Can we please just stop the war on porn please? Or just censorship in general? Why is it so important for these companies to have an iron grip on literally anything they deem “inappropriate?”

This is very bad news when see just how crazy sony is about censorship. These corporations should never have a monopoly on anime of all things.

So, Sony wants to censor anime content to potentially be 'brand friendly ', but they'll produce and release a game with a more realistic woman being raw dogged with very little censorship. Makes sense to me.

The prices will never be the same, neither will the customer service.

This is awful... when is this going to be considered a monopoly and the government steps in...

Oml so they're going Disney to snatch up everything one topic and sanitize it to the point no one wants anything to do with it anymore

Forget the erotica content. MY concern is that once it gets to the point of being accessible from only one or two sources, it will become IMPOSSIBLE to find the older content or "small market" content.... or worse, if it isn't specific TYPE of content it will be kept locked out.

I mean, you take a look at something like Dragonball and Pokemon and you will always have that available. But will they allow OTHER stories to even be told? Will we get stuff like Akira, Gundam, Peerless Dad, or even One Piece or Bleach? I mean, if those older and "off genre" titles can't get promoted, they can't be profitable, so become less appealing to even make, let alone ATTEMPT to explore in any form of story telling.

This is the problem with having too much control of an entire industry. At first it is the "smut" that gets squeezed out. Then it is the "questionable content" (Themes or views) that get tossed aside... until eventually, all you have left over is the same "copy/paste" type of content that either destroys an entire industry or HOPEFULLY bankrupts a company like what happened back in the mid-70's to early-80's where only one or 2 outlets tried to control everything released in America. It is why the EXPLOSION of popularity with Manga/Anime happened around the mid to late 80's in America. Because all the "gate-keeper companies" couldn't control the market any longer.

I have said it and I will continue to say it. Japan needs to take over the localization of manga, anime and games and sell it directly to us. Skip the middle man who continues to censor and alter the content. Keep it out of these greedy corporations.

I feel for the current employees! They all seem like they like being there and the store has come such a long way over the years. I always loved the small shop feel when you contact them…that will all go away.

This is a very bad development, especially since they are being really vague on a number of issues that will come about from this.

This, this right here is why people are sailing the seven seas of the internet for their anime and manga content.
