I use a lot of these on custom vehicles. I use a HUK hydraulic tool. Pricey but it is small and fits almost all applications.

I have a rivnut tool. But I cannot apply enough force through the handles to compress a 3/8” rivnut. The type with the sides sliced so it has 4 “legs” when it is installed. Hoping the drill torque can do what I cannot.

Will it tighten a rive nut that's already loose in the metal hole? Do I drill out the old riv nut, and install a new one? Thanks. Oh. Is the long nut in the middle of the washers also threaded, or can be a space filler.

nice & cheap, but with less than 5 to 10€ each, under the screw head you can add a ball or needle thrust bearing .
A hi grade steel screw is also better (8.8 or 10.9) with allen or torx print ;-)

The issue isn’t the tool, the hole is too big making for a sloppy fit. Grade 8 hardware makes for a better tool. You will be less likely to get distortion from the washer. I usually chase the threads after installation as they tend to distort a little.
Rim nuts are a great building tool. I recently used them to reattach the fenders on my wife’s Jeep after I Line-Xed them. The factory POM rivets tend to leave the fenders a bit loose, with riv nut attachments they are solid.
