LDC driving lesson 9 Roundabouts & mini roundabouts - key learning points

Part of the revolutionary LD System of learning to drive from LDC. This video shows the key points you need to learn in preparation for the driving lesson on Roundabouts.

Too many driving instructors focus too much attention on telling their pupils what to do and what to think! This approach only fosters dependency, doubt and blind obedience, such that once the test is passed they do all the things they were told not to do. The LDC approach is designed to foster self-reliance, confidence and responsibility resulting in safer drivers who learn to drive far more quickly and thoroughly.

Unlike traditional instruction LDC heavily promotes student centred learning. This involves the student being encouraged to take more responsibility for their own development by using the LD System materials before and after each lesson and by using discovery learning with self determination and reflection rather than being told what to do by the instructor. In particular talk through instruction, prompted practice and long winded explanations are avoided, if at all possible - instead encouraging the student to work it out for themselves. If you want to see this approach in practice view the videos in the playlist entitled Student Centred Learning where Bob Morton supports Bobby-Jo as she learns to drive.

What an awesome narrator. Extremely easy to follow, concise and succinct. Please make more videos using the same narrator. Extremely useful! Thank you for uploading this.

If I approach the final photo roundabout with several mini roundabouts, I'll stay left, turn left, drive 1 block up, do a u-turn, come back, turn left again and repeat until I get to my desired exit....got it.

7:39 This is where things got out of hand. The UK is harsh. The Australian (WA) Drive Safe handbook doesn't mention any of these so :p

I had a driving lesson today and went to the main roundabouts where I live and I needed to slow down more at the junctions because I turned way too fast. Next time as I approach I'll use the brake in much better time and change the gears accordingly.

The first roundabout was filmed where bottom of king lane meets the ring road in Leeds I believe. The camera man was stood filming on the bridge next to it.
