The refrigerated transportation in VN is too expensive therefore, it reserved for sea foods & meats in this order.
Fruits in VN mostly without refrig. or cool room storage. Thus most fruits are fresh in traditional sense of freshness ie, recently picked from the orchards.
The genetic engineering also expensive for relatively poor local consumption. Generally, the don't have labs to pump genetic manipulative substance into the fruits to slow down the ripening process that enables fruits stay longer in the shelves without rotten.
