where i live they are only green in september, i think it is because they have more sun exposure and consequently taste better (more acid and sweet)

In my experience oranges are more green when grown in the true tropics, and more orange when grain in a more temperate climate.

Interesting, Love how the Vietnamese oranges are so sweet! Here in Mexico, sometimes they're orange in color, other times green, but the green ones, sometimes not as sweet as the orange-colored, in fact, downright pale-yellow in color and so SOUR! xD :)

Is that possibly a different variety that don't turn orange?

Very interesting difference between oranges Wendi! Is the difference in color / taste tied to temperature only? Are there different nutrients present in the soils between countries? -Bob...

citrus and bananas did come from asia, so that's probably what oranges looked like before it got bread and turned into what we see at the store. even if you go down to florida. there are old places that has wild oranges and they stay green or mostly green even when ripe. I kind of wish my brother didnt cut the giant orange tree down from our house. there was a tree that produced bright red flesh altough the skin would be greenish yellow but it would taste very sweet better than any orange you could buy at the store.

There was a time when California produced amazing fruit!...Everything was delicious and ripe at supermarkets like Safeway... not picked early and refrigerated in trucks from Mexico.
