Because it's really difficult to look up in Scripture and find, "Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God."  Genesis 6:9

If you are going to make a movie about the Bible; feel free to pick one up as reference.

Imagine living in a world where every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time; that was the world in which Noah lived as a righteous man.  This is what happens when the ignorant act oblivious of the role they play.

That is why Noah was chosen, because he found grace in God's eyes. He was a good man who was trying to be what God wanted

Genesis 6:5-8 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

For anyone questioning whether Noah was a good man in God's eyes. Look in chapter 6:770-815-89369-9p of Genesis.
Genesis 6:8
Amplified Bible (AMP)
8 But Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord.
9 This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a just and righteous man, blameless in his [evil] generation; Noah walked [in habitual fellowship] with God.

Noah was a strong and tough individual. I think what he means(Russell) is that Noah was no push over(about him not being nice). He did what he had to do and was not afraid. Yes I'm sure he most certainly tried to convince many people that destruction was coming but as they say if you don't believe the massager is that the massagers fault? Looking forward to seeing the first trailer for NOAH next month. First trailer should be out in October.

exactly. I was thinking that too. except, they scoffed at his attempts, and only when the shit hit the fan, they wanted to get on the boat, but it was too late.

At one part in the story he say? The script, he should have said! There's a difference between a movie script and the bible.

Looking forward to this movie SO much. Can't wait to see how fundamentalists react. That could end up being just as entertaining as the movie itself.

Russell should know that the penalty for sin in the time of Noah was a public phoning!

Crowe assumes that humanity was (and is) inherently good, but the Bible says otherwise:

The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. -- Genesis 6:5-6

Each day is a mercy of God giving us time to repent and trust in Christ. People are free to disagree with that, but they are not free to rewrite Scripture.

That is not how Noah is characterized in the Bible at all. he doesn't "stand by and watch" as the world dies. He warns everyone of the coming doom and asks them to join him, but they refuse. Anyway, I am interested to see the film adaptation. Sounds exciting!

This is what happens when you let the worldly people give you their point of view. If he actually reads the scriptures he will see in fact he wasn't what he thinks..

I like being surprised, but how can we REALLY know what Noah was like? Just a thought. Looking forward to the movie though

Noah didn't stand by and watch anything happen. 2 Peter 2:5
"and He did not hold back from punishing an ancient world, but kept Noah, a preacher of righteousness, safe with seven others when he brought a deluge upon a world of ungodly people"

"preacher of righteousness"

warnings were given.

I agree with Russell is right that people will be surprised at who Noah was.
But I do disagree with Russell with what he said that Noah wasn't nice because he watched the entire world parish.
It took Noah over 100 years to build the Ark. Don't you think he preached to people to stop their wickedness and turn to the LORD? I think he would have said to people that they could help him, and they didn't have to, at least join me in this ship when I'm done. he was telling them, "I CAN SAVE YOU'

How Noah was to load the Ark.
Gen.6:19
Amplified Bible (AMP)
19 And of every living thing of all flesh [found on land], you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.

Noah was 500+ (chap. 4:32) yrs old when he began building. 600 when he was done and the floods came (chap.7:11).
He would become the last to live that long and his sons/wives, whom we all derive from, are the first to live no longer passed 120yrs.
Anyone knows of the contrary?

I'v no idea what bible translation Russell's reading from. Noah spent 120 years pleading with people to turn from their evil ways.
