So this was George Lucus' idea of a movie for 10 yo girls as to him Star wars was for 10 yo boys so he wanted to reach the other target audience. He took pride in having over 50 yrs of pop songs squished in. This is low key my guilty pleasure, it could have been so much better though

honestly, the moment they started fighting, I was like: "Is it a flirty fight?... It IS a flirty fight!" and since that moment I knew I was gonna love this movie

Also can I just say Im so glad the movie looks so weird, Im sure a few people would find it ugly but I think it works so well. It looks like if concept art was animated and for a story like this it really feels right for it to look like illustrations in classic tinker bell books. Especially as an artist myself I think this wouldn’t work with a more classic style of 3D, it needs to look “quirky” and in the dark forest, disgustingly beautiful.

Fun fact! This movie is based on ‘a midsummer nights dream’ which was written by Shakespeare! ❤️

"YOU KNOW THAT I LOVE--"
"You?!"
"Yes."
"Antidote?!"
"Working on it."

That scene alone makes me cackle every time.

Edit: GOOD GODS Y'ALL REALLY LIKED THIS COMMENT HUH--

I just rewatched this recently and it definitely a guilty pleasure, although I freaking hate that Sunny and Dawn became a thing. Bog at least learned from his past mistakes and had character development. Sunny tried to force Dawn to love him, he was the definition of a "nice guy". He didn't really learn anything. He didn't deserve Dawn.

I love this movie, it’s really nostalgic. Thanks for reviewing it, this was tons of fun!

11:28 Exactly. This is the reason why I liked the movie. You see the perspective of how and why these characters became guarded. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has heard "why are you like this?". Well the movie shows two characters who became guarded to survive that hurt. And even if they had their walls up, they still found love. I liked that I could relate to them and have some hope.

Edit: Also I agree, Sunny was creepy.

How strange as this movie is. (pun very much intended) I will say that having two ppl who both have their guard up slowly open up and fall in love with each is actually pretty original. Most the time it’s just one person who has their guard up and the other one eventually gets them to bring their guard down. I don’t think there are many other movies if any at all that have both the love interests have their guard up

Ever since Cellspex's review of Strange Magic, this film's been plaguing my mind. On one hand, it's a jukebox musical, got humour that doesn't work for me, and Sunny gets way too much screen time. But on the other, the visuals are breathtaking and the Beauty and the Beast story is charming. Bog King is such an intruiging character. It frustrates me that this mediocre film could've had so much potential, and therefore is a guilty pleasure of mine

Finally, a YouTube channel that doesn't immediately dump all over one of my favorite movies. You gave it an honest, positive review and actually enjoyed it.

I just came back after watching it, and ive got to say my favorite moment is towards the end when Dawn goes up to Bog and he is like "dont sing" and then she calls him by his name "bog" and he immediately replied with "Boggy" cause he has gotten so used to her calling him that 🤣🤣

I'm so happy that someone finally talks about this movie, 'cause I really like it but it seems that I'm in minority. 😅

I remember my sister bugging me for days to watch Strange Magic.
I don't regret watching it.
It's not the best movie ever, but I liked how they didn't make it as black and white as most movies.
The story itself is not that original, but the details make it better.
And with my family loving music to the point of singing all day at home and performing every now and then, the music was nostalgic and made us enjoy it a lot (of course we made our mum watch it too)

I'm gonna be honest

Me and my family walked into theatre, watched this, stepped out, and collectively stared at each other in shock.

It's..

I don't want to trash on it, especially when this is a positive review, but man, we did not like it back then. We all just agreed it was bad and apparently my family forgot it even existed. I randomly remembered it like a year ago and tried bringing up with my family but they were like "???"

This movie holds a soft spot in my heart, I remeber going into the movie and seeing it and walking out amazed. I loved this movie as a little girl to the point where not only did I see it in theaters twice. But with my toys would do a re-enactment of the entire movie. It's still one of my favorite animated movies, I think I really liked it because the two main love interest were so different from any character I had ever seen before. A princess who didn't care about love, only her sister and could fight. Not only that, but went off on the guy who cheated her amazed me. And the evil king who was perseved as bad and ugly just wanting love. And not really being as bad of a person as they thought he would. Seeing to characters so different falling in love amazed my little mind at the time. So this movie has always been a favorite of mine due to the big impact it had on my childhood. Which makes me pretty happy to see a video on it!

The fanfiction that came from this movie 🥰 Ugh it helped me through some tough times in 2015. The fandom was surprisingly active too. I return to it every now and then for nostalgia. Definitely a guilty comfort movie/fandom.
