Reminds me of fishing small creeks on the north side of Grand Mesa, CO in the 60s. We didn't have Tenkara back then. Good thing, because bushwhacking was the only way to get to the water. Mosquitoes were intense! Great fishing, though.

Glad to hear you use the Davy Knot, I do as well as it is such a quick and easy knot to tie and small. I hear people say it is a weak knot but I catch large fish on that knot all the time with confidence, it just has to be tied right.

Thank you for the fun video! Hats off to you for going for it with the water level and speed. Not to mention the tight cover. So many tree pounders lol!! I would have also been frustrated a little. But it's so nice being out adventuring I don't mind so much. I'm a little North in Gardnerville, NV. But love the small stream fishing! I have 3 of Brent's rods and love them all. I donate many of his flies to the local tree population haha! The Hellbender is fun on bigger water and fish, but does well on little guys too. The Mizuchi is also awesome for its strength and versatility. I'm not a fan of a stiffer feeling rod, but it puts a smile on my face when I need more fishy control in tight spots. But I love the Kaida and it's also my go to rod. Pack size, lengths and flex are awesome! Love the underwater video and pretty much everything you're sharing. Keep on enjoying the learning process and stay stoked!

As a line winder, you should explore using Nite Ize Twist Ties. You can place them where you want them rather than needing the longer rod above the grip.

Keegan, I really like the underwater shots. You will enjoy that Mizuchi on smaller creeks…I love being able to horse out a fish from cover and lift to safety

Nice video, and very helpful to me as a new tenkara angler. I'll be hiking the Sierra High Route in July, starting near this creek actually, and bringing along my Nissin Mini. Excited to fish some alpine creeks along the way. Any advice for backpacking with tenkara and packing a lightweight kit?

"Fat Fish Alert!" absolutely the line of the video. Nice underwater shots, so many native browns and rainbows. Eastern High Sierras has so much small creek tenkara possibilities, your tenkara vids are covering a subject matter long overdo. Thank you.

Another stellar vlog; I have fished streams exactly like that in the Eastern Sierras during spring/early summer runoff and it's difficult/technical, but a lot of fun. That rainbow was like football; wonder if was one of the stocked Alpers Trout?
