iPhone 14 is a great phone if you're upgrading from an iPhone X() from a few years ago. Watching this video from my Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel Buds! iPhones are great but I'll always be a pixel fanboy.

I jumped away from Android because of the teething issues brought around by Android 12. The most annoying of my issues were calls not connecting/going straight to voicemail, unstable mobile and wifi connections, and very unreliable app notification syncing. I tried to stay with Android, trying both Samsung and Pixel options, but the problems seemed more related to the OS, not the manufacturer. I'll probably jump back over the wall and try Android again when Google gets their ducks in a row (and preferably stops the cycle of creating and killing apps and services so frequently).

Can you chose which email address you want to sync all of your calendar events with? Can Google assistant be configured to say, use a microsoft email account as the default for calendar events etc or will it still force you to use a gmail account? Have they fixed the crappy reminders? Does it have a volume limiter for headphones that actually works and doesnt pop up with a warning every time you turn up the volume? Can I set Apple Music as my default audio player and have Google Assistant play playlists, songs etc through apple music app without bugging out all the time? Can I stream full CD quality audio to my stereo straight from the music app? Have they fixed all of the android apps that have all of the UI elements at the top of the screen instead of at the bottom where they are easily reachable (e.g. Facebook)? Do we still have to wait months/years to get the latest android features after they are released? Have they fixed all of the general software bugs and quirks in Android?

I've tried to go back to android twice in the last few years, once with the Note 20 Ultra and once with the Mi 11 Ultra and in both cases, I just couldn't get over how bad the software is. I mean dont get me wrong, the software is pretty great overall but it's the few bad things that really drag it down. Google really forces you to use their software/email service which makes it really hard to get good integration with a microsoft account (both my personal and work accounts are microsoft) so for example if I want to create a calendar event using Google assistant, there is no way to make my microsoft account the default, it's gmail or nothing. And even then it sucks at actually doing it. Try it side by side with an iPhone and an Android and see the difference. Also on Iphone you can put just about any account type on there and set it as the default for calendar events, email etc. It's way more user friendly and way easier to use. There are so many reasons to prefer iOS over android. I get that the hardware on Android is hugely tempting, my Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was an amazing peice of hardware. Beautiful design and the cameras were amazing but ultimately the software was just frustarting and limited and eventually after 6 months I moved back to iPhone. It's a shame because they could be awesome but they just dont have the level of integration, user friendliness and attention to detail that iOS/iPhone has.
People shouldnt be upgrading their phones every year so why would you compare the 14 to the 13? You should be comparing to the 12 or 11 or even older in which case it's a nice upgrade. I have the 13 Pro and I'll be keeping it for another year or two. The new camera on the 14 Pro is tempting but the 15 Pro will be even better and then the 16 Pro better again so the longer I wait, the better phone I get.

Interesting, as an S22 owner who actually really enjoys their phone, the 14 Pro is the first iPhone in a while where I'd be tempted to jump to away from Android if I were in the market, especially the purple one.

I'm switching from S21 to iPhone 14 Pro because things like the DJI Ronin app no longer work on the latest versions of Android. I can't have my professional tools not work on the job which happened to me this last weekend and had to burrow my buddies iPhone to do what I needed.
