What has truly shocked me over the past two years, is to have watched very intelligent and well respected academics I once worked with, and doctors and barristers who I've personally known for years, become some of the most ignorant, hateful, gutless cowards I've ever imagined.

As an Iranian who has been living under the Islamic republic's dictatorship and has lived and experienced the kind of tyranny described in this video, I can relate to every single word of it. I lived and studied abroad for more than 10 years but I could not bring myself to be an exiled dissident. I decided to come back home and do whatever I can, no matter how small, to make things better. Even now I need to use a VPN to be able to log into youtube as it is banned by the regime but I'm glad I'm challenging the system every single day. I try to enlighten my colleagues who have never lived outside the country and work hard in my position to change things for better.

I think we all clicked on this video because we all want a way out of this hell.

To all of you struggling at the moment; always remember this:

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
We are so many people alike, seeing and understanding too well what is going and I know the weight of this sick society is taking its toll on us. We simply can't believe that others comply, surrender, judge, hunt us. But again, we are not alone. Take strength in knowing that. Our time is now.

Here in Vietnam, we do farm work, grow food and forest, do not send our kid to school, give birth at home ... we try to be impacted little by the gov, try to be self sufficient, , and we hang out with other gardeners .. this is our version of parralel society ..

“Compliance is the food that feeds totalitarians.”

So true.

For years I used to believe that "one day the masses will rise up and take down tyranny". I now understand how deluded, and dangerous that idea is. At any given time, it's only a minority of the population that is discerning enough to see the nature of the control system for what it is. Creating a parallel society, first starting with one's self, now looks like the only way to go. Thanks once more for your videos, always edifying.

We always say things like "Never Again" and "We must learn from history or we are doomed to repeat it." But I feel that society always comes back to tyranny. No matter how educated we are of the past, we inevitably forget how valuable our freedom is.

A few easy steps I've took.
1. Stop watching news. Find something that's fairly unbias and objective, dropping a lot of the emotional queues.
2. Drop most social media, limit what you do use.
3. Stop living in fear of everything. The fear of being unsafe, the fear of opposing ideas, the fear that the world is ending, ect.
4. Accept your obligations and responsibilities and fulfill them.

I used to be somewhat socially anxious until I realised others were standing around just like me, waiting to be told what to do. This made me feel responsible in being the first to take initiative, giving others permission or comfort to take the same action. That's how I learned what leadership is.

Don't be afraid of being different, be afraid of being the same as everyone else.

When I’m a recluse because people are horrid, small minded and petty little narcissist’s. I just can’t….Thanks for this🙏💜 and cheers to those who are working to rise above it all.

This is why the “fool” is so important to society. They’re always the first ones to call society out when they go upside down and work to bring it right side up. That’s why in totalitarian societies comedy is the first victim.

Stand strong everyone, stand for what you believe in and be prepared to lose everything. Its a blessing and a curse to live in times of turmoil and great change... a good lotr quote i remember is:
“I wish it need not have happened in my time, ” said Frodo. “So do I, ” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Well, I'm from Venezuela, a country that has a totalitarian goverment. Sometimes I feel pessimistic about my future, is difficult to know that every day things gets worse: food is more expensive, insecurity is rising, colleges are not working, etc. But I realized that doing nothing is not going to make things better, so I decided to move on and try to make some good, to make things a little better for me, my family and my country. I got two jobs, im about to join an university, and im self-learning english, all of these to someday being able to have a better life, and help other people in the same situation.
For now I just have to say that a love this channel, it's a great content, keep going!

I’m entering year two of my escape. Life is good.

Growing my own food, building a self sufficient income, living in nature, and creating a resilient community around me. Wish I’d walked away sooner.

There is no escape from totalitarianism. You must fight it. It's one of the great ironies. To have a free society, you must constantly fight for it.
