Anthony Geffen, whose work inspired the new documentary, "Titanic: The Digital Resurrection," joins NewsNation to discuss how his team created the most detailed 3D reconstruction of the Titanic ever made. Similar to how investigators rebuild wreckage after a plane crash or recreate crime scenes in court, the goal was to answer lingering questions about the ship’s sinking. Using high-tech imaging, Geffen's team produced a full-scale digital model of the Titanic so lifelike it feels almost tangible. The film, part of a National Geographic special, was released just days before the 113th anniversary of the disaster.

Ashleigh Banfield is *the* definitive authority on the nation’s biggest true crime stories. We heard this at the time in 1912. Everyone said in 1912 that the engineers stayed at their posts till the ship went down with the lights going. Nothing new here

When I was a young man fifty years ago, Titanic appeared, as a ship, absolutely enormous. Now I see photos and videos of modern super huge cruise ships that make Titanic look Tiny! 😮👍🙏🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Ever since I was a small child I would always say "We have to find that boat". When they found it finally, my parents surprised me an took me to the Titanic exhibit that came to Phoenix. It was fascinating, all of the things they brought up from the bottom of the ocean, olives and wine still in their bottles, dishes, jewelry and part of the hull and a piece of the hull that you could touch. I have all of the replica pieces and an original chunk of coal.

Joseph Bell and the rest of the engineers were heroes. They stayed at they're posts to do they're jobs and in doing so saved more lives.Just as the TITANIC'S band will go down in history as heroes.

Yes, there were fabulously rich people, but down in the bowels of the ship, there were very poor people. Of course, they struggled to get out of the lower decks. Please do not forget those poor individuals. Cheers Rosemary 74yrs Western Australia

This is amazing, truly. It's also very sad seeing the wreck in such bad shape. It's deteriorated so much since Bob Ballard found it in the 80's.

I never understood why a company doesn't build an exact replica of the titanic and just have it moored at port as a hotel / restaurant / museum / guided tour. Would generate massive revenue and be a tourist hot-spot

My great uncle Thadius was on the titanic. He gave up his lifeboat seat to a mother and her two small kids. He was never seen or heard from again after that, although some in my family believe he survived and lived out his days in canada under an assumed identity (he was a petty crook at the time)

The valve would have remained open during normal operation because there was no reason to close it. That required no specific effort.

Incredible, all of it! No need to physically travel down there anymore, risking human lives. The lessons of those that’ve gone before us should be our guide and warning.

I'm sitting here thinking if I were in this situation, would I go down into a sinking ship in order to keep the lights going and possibly save people, but knowing I'd be trapped in a room as it fills with freezing water and I would probably drown, would I do it... Honestly, I hate to say it, but I don't think I could. Not because I wouldn't want to save people, but that's a horrible way to go. Gives me anxiety just picturing it. I don't think I'm brave enough tbh as much as I hate to say that. It really makes me respect those that were willing to make that sacrifice to help save people that night. Those folks were a different breed. That takes a lot of courage to do that knowing what's going to happen, and that it won't be quik and you're probably going to suffer before you go

I survived the Titanic and I'm tired of all these conspiracy theories 113 years later.

You can download a digital version of the ship now as it was before it sank. And walk around the whole ship. Even go down into the coal bunkers and engine room. It looks photorealistic. It's absolutely amazing. I downloaded on my pc and it works perfectly. The amount of detail the creators made is unbelievable.
