Wario online is sadly a low tier character, poor recovery jump, very small range. Wario's overall damage output depends on his waft, so if he's lucky and can waft someone he has the chance to win a match, but if he misses it's probably a loss. The problem is, his waft needs to be very precise and the range of the waft is also very limited. Overall when I'm playing against a Wario online I mostly win. Playing as a Wario online has been far more difficult for me than managing some other characters, like Samus, for instance. Playing Bowser I need 50% of the input that Wario needs and get 6 times better results. Wario is a fun character, but very weak unless one can play him perfectly and that's an extremely hard thing to do.

I feel people overrated Pre Patch Wario, but at the same time they overrate Wario's nerfs to a point that even his (Shadow) Buffs got ignored.
Wario rep getting dropped has more reasons than the "nerfs". It has a few more reasons:

- ONLINE (Biggest reason, especially during COVID).
- Still not an easy character to pick up and play.
- Meta was at one time more rough for Wario.
- There are more Characters that are also viable.
- Ultimate slowly not being a fun game to a point that made Wario players don't put any effort.

Wario is crazy if you solo main him and put in the effort. I can think of at least 20 different ways to hit waft off the top of my head. Most people who try to secondary him or pick him up for fun often end up dropping him pretty quickly. It's hard work playing him and you'll need to either be drastically better than your opponents or be very creative and hit them with something new every game. He definitely needs a secondary for characters like kazuya, icies, maybe luigi. A zoner like duck hunt, snake or young link works.

Up Tilt Waft is still a confirm, however in order to get it you have to get the body hitbox of the move. Basically meaning youve gotta be right on top of the opponent. Using Pivot cancel tilts (which are great on wario overall btw) combined with his great dash will help you get up tilt waft
