Deep-Sea Oarfish Is Spotted on Mexican Beach

A rarely seen oarfish appeared in shallow water in Baja California Sur, Mexico, on Feb. 9, surprising beachgoers. The deep-sea-dwelling oarfish is believed to be the world’s largest bony fish, and can grow as long as 26 feet.
Not much is known about the existence of these fish, including how long the fish live or how many are in the ocean. Most researchers believe oarfish live some 200 to 1,000 feet underwater, where the current tends to be calm and there is very little sunlight. Others say they have been known to stick closer to the surface.
Japanese mythology suggests that the appearance of the fish can signify impending earthquakes. The superstition was so popular that researchers in Japan addressed it, publishing a paper in 2019 that debunked any significant link.

I love that this guy not only knew what this fish was but then saved it... Sure, the fish is rare, but what are the chances it would run into someone that would recognize it, but also want to save it?

Hes probably the only person to have ever touched a fish like that, with his bare hands the poor fish must be in pain. Considering it lives in the dark

Let me say something, you may think he saved it, he did not. As soon as oar fish reaches the shore they only have a few minutes before they die due to the pressure that expands their lungs and organs until it pops and their eye balls expanding blows up because they have to be thousands of feet below the water and going up means that their gonna die and the current pulled them up.

For those who don’t know, an oarfish is a long, slender fish found in deep ocean waters, often reaching lengths of up to 36 feet. It has a shiny, silver body and a distinctive, red fin that runs along its back, making it look almost like a giant ribbon. Despite its size, the oarfish is not dangerous to humans; it mainly feeds on plankton and small fish. It's known for its rare appearances near the surface, often spotted when it is sick or dying, and is sometimes linked to sea monster legends.

Oarfish are large and extremely long pelagic lampriform fish belonging to the small family Regalecidae. Found in areas spanning from temperate ocean zones to tropical ones, yet rarely seen, the oarfish family contains three species in two genera.

Sadly it is highly unlikely that it survived. The pressure change alone from deep see to surface likely destroyed its insides.

Yeah, earthquakes all over the world and in the ocean right now. I think the poles are shifting or something is happening for sure.
