Many ppl who’s been waiting for r5c were disappointed with micro hdmi, no IBIS, no clog2, single screw hole in the bottom, and so on. And I thought about who will benefit from this camera the most, I could only think about VR shooter. I think this camera is made for you 😏

Hi Hugh i got my first quest back in November and have only just discovered this type of content, what you doing has blown me away being a film maker myself working in vfx that doesn't happen often 180 is so much more immersive then 360 its unreal. regarding the 8k raw stitched note being supported yet have you looked into using Nukes Cara VR workflow I use nuke every day for work but haven't had the opportunity to do VR yet planning to jump in as soon as I get my new camera and a hold of the VR lens which is sold out here. if you have any 8 raw sample footage i would be happy to try stich some for you while i try to figure out the NUKE work flow

Which do you think has more resolution, insta360 pro 2 or canon?

Watched this in Quest 2. Feels more engaging to watch this in VR than in flat.

Hi Hugh, I am assuming you have been working with it now for a month and looking forward to your review. But I have a few questions I hope you can answer now or during your review. Now that it handle 60fps, what type of shutter system does it use? 60 fps won't be very useful if you still have a jelly rolling shutter problem. The other question is weight. I guess I could look it up, but maybe with everything you need to put it fully to work, would give me a better idea of the final weight, even better maybe show the COG point of the setup.

Also, you commented that you shouldn't move a VR180 camera. Is this because there is no EIS, or due to it being a limited 180 degrees of viewable content that amplifies motion? As mentioned, I would love to see you walk with or even dolly a shot with it using some form of stabilization. I will try to find out how to contact you privately to discuss more on what I am planning.

PS, I wish I had known you came up to Portland not too long ago. I would have love to take you to lunch.

Great interview Hugh! What's the best set up for not showing the tripod on the record? The system shown there looks very risky and complicated

I'm looking to purchase the best or 2nd best VR 280 3d cam for upcoming projects. Which one is the best for video.

Did you shoot the interview with the Canon EOS R5C?

I actually prefer vr videos where the camera is moving (e.g. walking tours) so 60 fps is extra critical. It sounds like 8k60 won’t work with the vr attachment/software yet though, if I understood correctly. Hopefully they add support soon; no 8k60 would be a deal breaker for me.

I don't know if it's Youtube, but I can't post links.
Share some of your videos with Lifecastvr, I'd like to see them in 6-dof.

I read that the R5 overheating problem has been solved by adding a fan to the R5C. Is this correct? Does this mean there is going to be the noise of the fan polluting any ambient ambisonic sound recording?
