Monoprice Mini - Glass Bed install

Hi everyone, and welcome to Frank's 3D shop.

On Facebook in the pages for 3D printers, I see a lot of people suggesting to install a glass bed.
That, it is easier, faster, it does not need glue, air spray or any adhesives. It's entirely flat and makes bed leveling a breeze.
Best thing since sliced bread!

Today let's install a glass bed on my Monoprice Mini Select V2.

Hi, I'm Frank my channel is all about 3D printing. I can't get enough of my 3D printer. I make everything and anything out of 3D filament (PLA, PETG and more). As I say a printer that is not printing is a missed opportunity.

I'll be doing electronics, mechanics, computer engineering, DIY, reviews and tutorials.

I update twice a week on Tuesday and Saturdays.

Great advice Frank... Thanks a lot! I have only had my Monoprice printer for a couple of months now, but it's the fact that I have to occasionally tear it apart and do work on it is what familiarizes me with it. Again... Thanks!

Interesting and simple. I think I would use a mirror glass because you would be able to tell if it was not flat by the slight distortion in the reflection. It probably is made better for that reason too. Just a thought. I wonder if they make thinner glass? Thanks for the video.

True, , I just installed glass on my CR10 300x300x400 and it made all the difference in the world. I use Elmer's glue stick and it works great. Took me a bit to dial in the extra thickness for the proper "Z" height but once I got it dialed in, it printed fabulous prints. Love the smooth under surface created by the glass. Great video keep up the good work!!!

Hey guys if you dab duct tape on the residue it will remove it easily after a bit.

For the life of me I can't see where you installed the z-spacer (what's it do anyhow?)
New to the whole thing, like my v2 but I do have bed warping issues. Was thinking of using silicone thermal pads instead of clips.

Thank you! I thought my printer was junk, because I couldn't get at the Z-limit switch, to install the glass to fix the warped plate! This video showed me how to save it!

Hi, I have something similar, a fabrikator 2 mini and I found that getting the right height from the nozzle to the heated bed (60 degrees) works like a treat. I have printed more than dozen parts in PLA and PETG. Never used glue or anything on glass. Try some more, it will be worth it.

I don't think my bed is warped. I saw in the instructions is said to put masking tape on the print bed, I did that and have printed a few things and it seems to be working good, no issues with adhesion. It is easy to replace if it gets damaged.

Best mod you can do to the MPSMV2. Btw you can install right over the buildtak. You may end up wanting to upgrade to borosilicate glass, if you notice any uneveness in prints down the road.

For anyone doing this if you go to michaels they will cut you a piece of glass for it

I want to do the same on my MPSM. What I read is you have to sand the glass a bit so the PLA will stick on it. It supposed to be enough to avoid the use of glue or hair spray.

I just ordered this printer myself and have been looking at upgrading a few things before it even comes. Was the glass bed worth the time?

Why clip the glass bed to the aluminum bed? Why not glue it somehow? Won't clipping make the heat bed less efficient?

I ordered a glass bed for mine and put it on. I also put the proper insulation underneath the bed (I had to replace my bed) but I cant tighten the bed all the way down like you did, so I'm running into issues with the Z-axis... Is there any way to program or set what level the Z-axis starts at, or do I need to remove the foam?

Would greatly appreciate the help here as I'm kind of stuck on what to do... And being as my Ender 3 just got the "blue screen of death", my Select mini v2 is my only printer that is operable at the moment.

What Gcode command did you use to have that filament extrude at 3:50 ?

Bonjour Frank, Est-ce que tu as déjà testé le buildtak flexplate ? J'hésite entre ceci et une simple vitre. Quel est ta recommandation. Merci !

if you just just regular / common oil (canola/olive/etc...) you can get rid of glues a lot faster than any glue solvent~ Only issue is that you need to wash the bed afterwards since the oil makes a mess.

i have an MP10, . when i home the axis it just goes straight into the glass plate and continues to push down. Do you have a solution for this?

How easily did it come off the print bed?
