That guitar lick is amazing, but difficult to play. George's playing seems so effortless. I have seen tape of them playing Day Tripper live, and it is amazing.

No one's going to take issue with you pointing out Ringo's drumming-it's so distinctive, such a part of the Beatles.

The interweaving of Paul's bass, George's lead, and John's rhythm guitar is absolutely magical-such an iconic Beatles sound!

I think Ringo was called a lousy drummer because he didn't do big complex drum solos. But with his little drum kit, he helped to create the Beatles' rhythm that was the main source of their early popularity. He also created some very interesting drum patterns for some of their most progressive music, with time signature changes, etc., that drummers today find hard to reproduce. The drum pattern for Ticket to Ride, around the same time as this release, was very unique and I think was used by many other drummers later. He may not have been as flashy as other drummers with their huge kits, but he was integral to the Beatles' sound throughout their career.

There's gotta be a hundred songs that have an audience-exciting opening riff, but I'd vote that this puts more dancers on the floor, qjuicker, than any other song. And for bands to do GOOD covers, it's Ringo's rolling thunder that is critical.

Great reaction, Stan. Yep, this song just makes you sit up straight like a bolt of lightning shooting through you. Another one of their timeless hit singles that didn't even get dropped on an album until compilation LPs came out after their breakup.

Oh Stan..i could tell within a milli second you were going to lap this one up!. It's the riff at the beginning that gets you from the word go. I heard Pete Townsend run the Beatles down by saying if you seperate the voices from the rest of the song it's ordinary or words similar. Does it really matter?. The end product is normally brilliant. Sure, George Martin and the production of the songs was superb. For me it's the whole ethos. The sound, the production, the chemistry between the four. Three singer/songwriters who all wrote and performed some of the best songs of their own. The Beatles mostly produced memorable songs, sure there were a few that some may consider not to great, but overall it was staggering how good they were. Yes Ringo was and is the King of Swing
