2004, in my first year of college, I met a girl. I was completely head over heals for her; And her for me. My heart used to be “on fire” every time she’d text me... And at the time, Switchfoot - ‘The Beautiful Letdown’ was our favorite album and more so, this very song. Before moving to second year, she had to go back to Australia. Needless to say I was completely heart broken when she told me. I remember literally not being able to breath... I’m 35 years old now, married and with 3 kids. Seated at work listening to this song just made all the memories of her come flooding back.

This song is talking about God & His presence.. despite what people are saying he(the man in the song) can feel His(Jesus) presence and peace and know in his heart that Jesus is real .. I.E 'being on fire when he's near me'
