Every medication, from pills to injections, _usually_ has detailed instructions with it on how EXACTLY to take it. Why do nasal sprays not??? I have this on file that I take nasal sprays. I get a prescription. Why have I been doing this wrong for YEARS??

Bro I HATE nasal spray because of the taste, who knew it wasn't being administered right. Haven't used it since I was a wee lad cause it would make me gag. Maybe time to try again.

As a pharmacist, we always teach patients to use the right hand for the left nostril and vice versa. This way you are less likely to hit the septum/wall in the nose.

Been using nasal spray DDAVP for diabetes insipidus for 22 years of my life… I can’t believe I didn’t know that “if you taste it, you waste it”. I snort it so much!

Thanks for sharing. I've been doing it wrong for too long. Now I won't have to go thru more than I should be using.

This!!! The literal instructions tell me to snort it, and it does nothing but make my vision extremely blurry, and make me lose the ability to smell and taste (which for me are extremely important senses). These meds need better instructions on administration because I just end up swallowing it and I get sick.

This is super helpful! I have a prescription for nasal spray because my environmental allergies cause my eustachian tubes to basically swell shut, which if left unaddressed can cause a buildup of fluid in my middle ear and has given me vertigo spells before. the nasal spray definitely helps but I almost always end up tasting it- good to know I shouldn't have to be!

All the nasal Sparys I've seen always say to spray 2-3 times per nostril in the instructions but this video makes me think that would be wrong, can you clarify what the right amount of sprays is? 😅

I've never tried a nasal spray for allergy season, I've always resorted to allergy pills, with "okay" results. Would a spray work better?

Do you know why one of my nostrils is always blocked and it doesn't go away

i saw this video and had to come find it a few days later to actually use your advice! allergies are killing me and (off topic but similar) i was wondering if i should be using a saline nose spray to clean pollen out of my nose the same way? like angling it opposite of my septum?

I had a reaction to Astepro on May 20th...and I still have ear congestion today June 10th. Never again...

so is the spray actually supposed to be bouncing off the outer wall of your nostril or not

Hiya Dr. Rubin. I’m looking to match into IM and go into allergy. Do you have any advice?
Anything that you wish you knew when you were in med school?
