US President Donald Trump said he would “rather not” impose a promised 10 per cent tariff on all Chinese imports to the United States. Trump made the comments in a Fox News interview that aired on January 23, 2025. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said Beijing was open to resolving the issue through dialogue with Washington, saying that “trade wars have no winners”.

10% would not affect Chinese exports but increase inflation in the U.S.

China trade with US is only 3% of their GDP. So no, tariff from the US is not a great power over China. In fact, The US trades with China is actually increasing even throughout the 8 years of trade war with China.

Tariffs are a tax on American businesses that import goods from foreign nations. Donald Trump's trade wars with China resulted in a U.S. trade deficit of $679 billion. During Donald Trump's presidency, the U.S. bankruptcy rate increased 8%. Farm bankruptcies increased 20%. The U.S. economy shed 2.9 million jobs, including 1.4 million in manufacturing.

Trade with US is only about 10% of the total foreign trade of China. Of course China doesn't want lose even a penny of its trade but if it is going to happen, then China has to retaliate for compensation.

Whether its 1%, 10% or 100%, when the tariff are not useful than don't implement it. With all the sanctions and tariffs already imposed against Chyna they still comes up top with a mouth watering 1 trillion trade surplus last year. That proof that tariff is not working at all.

1st. Taiwan is a province of China. Read the three joint communiqués
2nd. US is the ambitious one. US has hundreds military bases surrounding China while China has none surrounding US.
3rd. If US intends to lower its trade defisit, dont ban your Chips sales to China. Of course there is a deficit if you just buy but don't sell

It is not 10% but more, because the previous tariff add on a few yrs ago is still there. A 10% tariff as he said is 10% on the original price + past tariff .Got that?
